Just thought he deserved a shoutout, had plenty of stick but thought he was immense tonight.

I’ve liked him so far without really seeing him at cb and with back to back games. Feel some of the criticism has been ott (no surprise). Flawless tonight, defensively spot on and calm, composed passing.

Superb. Thought there was more to come from him
Really enjoy having a natural left footer at LCB as well.

Don’t like him at left back at all, thought he was brilliant tonight though, gave us real balance in the back four.
Dara was a monster tonight too, another who certain fans will just never praise because their minds have been made up but been immense recently.

Best player for us tonight imo, easy scape goat for some on here but I honestly feel given more game time he would shine.

He was absolutely fantastic tonight. If thats the real Delcroix then we have an excellent cb. Also frees up Beyer to go to right back so we can replace the hapless Vitinho.

He was excellent and to be fair it surprised me, but he is a very calm defender. Him and O Shea were excellent

Both CBs played very well tonight but Delcroix edged it.
Certainly the best he’s looked for us by a long distance.

I’ll hold my hands up, I was one who said he didn’t look like footballers cousin, but he had a solid game tonight

I like Delcroix in the middle, I doubt he has the pace to play left back at PL level, but he and O'Shea did very well .

Very good performances from both centre halves and by far the best we've seen from Delcroix. Good to see.

His performance tonight could change our season if VK takes notice!
Moving Beyer back to right back and keeping Delcroix maybe the best business we do in January

He seems perfectly suited to that role at this level too for the way we want to play, he can carry the ball forward with less pressure than he does when he's a CH. We've two poor right backs at this level so give Beyer a try and keep two solid centre halves in the middle.

Delcroix certainly had his best game tonight but I don't think the pairing of him and O Shea are VKs idea of ball playing centre backs.

I'm not one for digging players out but O'Shea has to be affected by having to babysit the right back position for most of the game.
We upgrade that position and it surely has to help the centre halves who can concentrate on their jobs.

Him and O'Shea were brilliant. Haven't been overly impressed with either this season but showing us what they're capable of tonight. Those two especially didn't deserve to be on the losing side.

He was great tonight and I hadn’t rated him much at all in his appearances thus far. O’Shea likewise continued his recent excellent form and Cullen had his best game of the season. Promising signs from these three in particular.
I also will add that Al-Dakhil did well at left back after Taylor got injured.

I was pretty critical of O’Shea at the beginning of the season but he’s been superb last 4-5 games. Really improving.

I’ve been critical of him at times, and remain justified imo on those times. However he did well tonight. He looked a bit positionally iffy first half, a bit of a ball follower, and there looked to be gaps opening up, but he did generally recover and improved throughout the game.
I’m not sure how he’d cope in a real physical battle, but we’ll down tonight.

Best game I've seen from him didn't have a huge amount to do but did everything fine, nothing amazing but zero mistakes or errors at all, tidy on the ball too.

It is, and im not usually one to basically campaign against a player. But up there with the most out of his depth players weve had at this level. In terms of full backs in the PL, weve had Mears, Trippier, Lowton, Bardsley, Jordan, Fox, Ward and Taylor. I can honestly say id pick every single one of those ahead of Vitinho at this level.

Mears was awful. We only thought he looked good at the time because he was the fastest right back we'd had in years but he was nowhere near a Prem player. Jordan wasn't up to it by far either, I liked Fox but he was also incredibly limited
Vitinho had a really good run of a few games, he's had a bad 3-4 now. He's still young enough to improve as a fullback, 24 is young for a defender. He's definitely got flaws but there's a few people who decided he's a scapegoat last season (largely because he doesn't engage in Roberts' shithousery) and can't give him credit.
He was poor tonight, he's been off the last few games, is rotate Roberts back in, but he gets way too much stick.

Lessons to be learned by a lot of posters on here who are way to quick to write off players after a handful of games in a new country and facing a much higher quality of opposition.

I still think a natural left-footed LCB makes a big difference. Originally I was hoping Beyer / Delacroix might be the best pairing, but O'shea has played well lately so probably gets the nod. Beyer at right back might be interesting, but maybe lacks a bit of pace for how we want our full backs to play? If Roberts goes to Leeds and we don't get a replacement, then it might have to be Beyer (or AAD or Ekdal), but it will probably be Vitinho.

I thought Mears was fine tbh, definitely one of our better players at the time. Didnt he get a move back to the Premier League with Bolton afterwards?
Fox was probably the worst of the bunch but he had a lovely left foot and could defend better than Vitinho.
Im not having this narrative that people are scapegoating him, if anything its the opposite, hes been a very popular player with us because of his chant and being our first Brazilian. Personally I think he's managed to bluff his way through by hardly having to defend last season and playing out of position on the wing a lot so people couldnt really judge his true level.
Now hes having a run of games in his best position in the PL and its absolutely woeful to watch and getting worse. When the opposition send a diagonal over his head (which theyve all clocked on to now) just watch him not the ball, he has absolutely no idea how to position his body correctly and can not read the flight of the ball (this may be intentional because hes avoiding heading it which he clearly doesnt enjoy either). Im not even going to mention him going forwards because thats just plain to see

All I keep reading is from posters who state, “I have been critical in the past”. Imagine having that outlook in life and negatively critiquing a Burnley player after only a handful of games when he’s come from a different country and set up. It really does make you all look moronic. I hope you do learn your lessons from it. But I’m sure another scapegoat will be on your radars very soon.
