Sven-Goran Eriksson
Diagnosed with terminal cancer and a year to live.
Awful disease that has affected most, hope one day there is a cure.
Give us one of the greatest nights in English football beating Germany 5-1 in Munich.
Still massively under achieved though, that golden generation squad should have cleaned up and won everything. Still annoys me till this day.

Really sad to read this.
Probably the only manager since Venables who made England enjoyable to watch

Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
Sad news indeed. I liked Sven and was lucky enough to see one of his England teams play in Frankfurt in the 2006 World Cup. The whole 'fake sheikh ' stitch up is the sole reason I to this day refuse to buy a newspaperclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 8:38 amReally sad to read this.

Saw England v Sweden WC 2002 at Saitama Stadium. Great day out. Keep fighting Sven!
Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
He was unlucky in 2006. If Rooney hadn't lost his cool we'd have beaten Portugal, I think.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 8:32 amDiagnosed with terminal cancer and a year to live.

It's funny how Rooney never got the same treatment that Beckham did four years earlier.
Sad to read about Sven.

He’s just a likeable chap and it’s sad news. I saw his interview on TV and he appears to have a good outlook on things.

Sad news really. He always came across a decent level headed sort of bloke & I hope he manages things with the minimal amount of pain it's all you can wish for in the circumstances.

Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I know many will remember him from his England days, but for me the most I ever liked him was the long running saga of him joining t’Rovers. It seemed to go on for months, then last minute telling them he did not fancy it.
A Claret could not have done any better.

Still got it too. They were 2-0 down at half time and Gerrard said Sven changed the tactics, leading to a 4-2 win.bfcjg wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 9:03 pmhttps://news.sky.com/story/sven-goran-e ... l-13100675

Like a lot of illnesses if you can catch them early then you have a better chance of beating it.
It happened to me in 2015 noticed blood in my P I rang my surgery up straight away got down there with a urine sample and the doctor sorted me on the road to recovery.
Been clear ever since thank gawd.

You was very fortunate you had that clear symptom indicating something was wrong. Some people aren't as fortunate & the damage is already done & beyond reversing.South West Claret. wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 4:07 pmLike a lot of illnesses if you can catch them early then you have a better chance of beating it.

What I find a bit sad is Ulrika Jonsson coming out with stuff about him. That is surely the time when you keep it to yourself.

It depends what she has to say as long as it's respectful I don't see a problem dishing the dirt or showing disrespect that's completely different.

I've just googled & had a look at the evening standard article so I now know what you mean I don't usually read newspapers as I take everybody & everything at face value. If true I agree it's uncomfortable.wecef15003 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 4:29 pmWhat I find a bit sad is Ulrika Jonsson coming out with stuff about him. Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
I think it's more about her. She's not in the press for any good reason so this seemed like her best option. She might be correct of course, but just a shame 'celebs' seem to eventually drop to this level given time.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 4:51 pmI've just googled & had a look at the evening standard article so I now know what you mean I don't usually read newspapers as I take everybody & everything at face value. Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
Hasn’t this walnut skinned old brass had enough out of selling her stories about Sven ? Didn’t she ruin John Leslie’s career as well ? But refused to actually press charges . She also moved heaven and earth to ruin ( but failed miserably) another “ squeaky clean “ bbc presenter she’d slept with . Did t she also admit to rogering half the old Gladiators ?An Utterly odious shameless tramp.

Re: Sven-Goran Eriksson
There was Hunter from Gladiator, which was published in most newspapers. I think he mentioned her in "The Circle" which was based in Manchester. She's certainly one. A lot of people resort to this though. But it doesn't say she's wrong.AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2024 5:51 pmHasn’t this walnut skinned old brass had enough out of selling her stories about Sven ? Any early warning signs to be aware of? I read the signs actually happen when it gets to the later stages.

Mine was blood in the wee I don’t know of any other sign, which doesn’t mean there isn’t one of course.
