Re: Martin Paterson
DIdn't have Pato down as being the kind of personality who'd get into management.
Be interesting to see how he gets on. That's a few from our 2009 team who've followed the path into management isn't it?
Alexander
Duff
Pato
Elliott
Any others?

Re: Martin Paterson
He’s been Michael Duff’s assistant manager at both Barnsley and Swansea.

Re: Martin Paterson
One of our most underrated players. Would have been more highly rated these days with such a focus on pressing from the front

Re: Martin Paterson
His pressing was exceptional but that was perhaps the strongest part of his game. Other than that, he looked Championship level to me.
That's not intended as a criticism - he's one of my all time favourites and he always gave 100%.

Re: Martin Paterson
Paterson reminded me very much of Ian Moore and Liam Robinson for his work rate, but far more confident in front of goal. Had it not been for he bad injury I still think Paterson would have gone on to thrive at the highest level. We missed his ability to terrify defenders and lost a lot from our game when he got that long term injury, that robbed him of much of his edge.

Re: Martin Paterson
Wonder if he regrets rejecting our contract offer in 2013 as we then went on to gain promotion without him.

Re: Martin Paterson
Produced one of my favourite Clarets goals of recent decades, of course, it's the one at Reading in the playoffs
semi. Wonderful strike.
As mentioned, never a world - beater, but a 100% player.
Good luck to him.

I'm a little surprised to see he is only 36 meaning he was only 21 when he scored that worldy at Reading in the play off semi final second leg.

Re: Martin Paterson
He was brilliant the season we went up. Formed a little and large strike partnership with Steven Thompson that you don't see much of anymore. We had it with vokes and ings/gray.
I think he had potential to be a premiership player if injuries hadn't interfered with his career.
Good luck to him

Re: Martin Paterson
Big fan of Pato. CT will remind us but I don’t think he was Coyle’s, rather Cotterill’s idea for a target

I only met him once but he struck me at the time as having his head screwed on, extremely focused and intelligent.

Re: Martin Paterson
Cracking game. Can't believe Martin Paterson is only 36. That's a year younger than my daughter!. Wish him all the best anyway.

Re: Martin Paterson
Nice change, isn't it.
Players not rolling around like they've been hit by a bus every few minutes.
And no VAR!

Re: Martin Paterson
Nooooooo.
Re: Martin Paterson
How annoying for Burton after they've done so well, those injury time winners are absolute killers
Re: Martin Paterson
So true, and gives me comfort that we will be happily back in that world next season, unless we're bankrupt of course! On Friday, till it all kicked off at the end, I thought the same about the Luton game, two good championship teams just going for it with no diving, tricking the ref. Clearly I jinxed it at the end!Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 9:30 pmNice change, isn't it.

Gutted for Patto.
