Sadly passed away aged 83. She was a pioneer and a great DJ, used to love her Sunday evening show after the chart show, she would start with a song, say nothing and just before the vocals would say "Hi" in her gravelly voice. RIP Annie

Big fan of Robbie Vincent show in the 80s, used to the love her handover to him, always good natured banter.
She was a legend who refused to toe the line and was relevant right to the end. RIP.

Used to love Annie Nightingale on the Old Grey Whistle Test, by her own admission the BBC initially booked her as the 'token female' yet looking back now she ended up in no time at all with as much credibility and respect as absolutely anyone in the business.
RIP Annie.

As a young teen, I would always record the beginning of her show on Sundays on my tape deck as the first song was often something new or certainly not played on mainstream shows. The tape deck had a timer function which I used as an alarm clock, So every Monday morning I would be woken up before school by her saying that ‘Hi’. A big part of my teenage tapestry. RIP Annie.
