From TV up until the late controversial goal I thought he was as good as any I have seen on TV this season

I’m going to do this now before I set off home, because up until the goal, I thought he was outstanding. That said, I think he has made a terrible error on the goal. Gutted

Great upto the foul on Traff .We didn't need VAR it was a clear attempt by Luton striker to do Traff which he did by taking him out.

There are no words that can be said other than HE SCREWED UP on the goal, otherwise well done.

I was laughing at Morris celebrating, thinking what are you doing yer fool, it's an obvious foul.
Not obvious to the pillock in charge apparently

he was one of the best refs we've had all season
let the game flow - no cards until the very end, even let the offsides go
poor judgement for the end

I've not seen their goal back again but looked a foul from open play. I can't shift the suspicion that the ref deliberately allowed the foul to stand because he lacked the character to book Trafford for time wasting or pull him up for holding onto the ball too long.
This is exactly the kind of character that should never be allowed to officiate.

Quelle Surprise, allowed the Luton defenders to manhandle our players all night.

Agree 100% - I said to the people around me thats he's only not given that because he was getting annoyed with Trafford being a clown with his timewasting

Aston Villa Vs Burnley on VAR is Peter Bankes
Burnley Vs Luton Town on VAR is Peter Bankes
Please tell me it's the last we see of him.

I've seen it again and it's as bad as it could be.
It's disgraceful refereeing again and just as bad from VAR in letting it stand. Complete lack of character, backbone and moral fibre all round from the officials.

I hate VAR and have 0 confidence in PGMOL and their "officials". I won't put anything further, other than to say, it feels like theres an agenda.

Have to agree with jdrobbo, as good a referee as we've seen all season. That was until the goal. I've not seen it back but the impression I got from the stand was that Luton hardly celebrated it clearly believing it would be ruled out.

Very poor. The challenge on Trafford first half was a booking. They pushed and shoved Fozzy all game. There was one second half when the defender actively pulled Fozzy's arms behind him like it was an arrest. Any contact from us was given as a foul. Several foul throws allowed, even had halfway line to help him and let it go. Didn't book their dives. The equaliser is shambolic. It is a foul for any of the bigger teams all day long. For a bigger team, he calls it without VAR even. He is in a decent position to call it.
A - 2
B - 15
C - 15
D - 9
Our failure to win was not down to this muppet though.

Rancid. His attitude while they were checking the equaliser summed him up. He let their centre halves foul Foster all night long and worst of all was not booking their player for one of the worst dives there's ever been. Have they still not cottoned on that if you don't punish it they'll keep doing it?
VAR hasn't helped him on the goal but it's obvious from where he's stood and he should be asking to have a look at it again. No understanding of football or how to manage a game.

Need to get to bed but must rate this first. You will never see a better example of why letting a game flow is not always a good thing, thugs take full advantage.
A - 5 (missed pretty much everything, some of it nasty, especially on Lyle, and as for that obvious booking for the pull back stopping our break…..) bit of course it was their equaliser that was the worst reffing decision of the season)
B - 5 (felt like he gave it all to Luton, judging it based on what I saw not TV afterwards)
C - 15
D - 5 (no authority laid down whatsoever all game)
Was annoyed with him before the goal and called what would happen correctly, a non decision would gift them a point, and it did.

He took little control of the game at all. They were 100% up for the battle and pushed, pulled and kicked out players all night but didn’t take any action. The linemen were generally inept and scared to give a throw in on a few occasions.
Foster was hauled down in the centre circle as he tried to break free. If it was a Burnley player it’s an immediate yellow (ask Sander Berge sent off for his pull at Villa).
As for the goal you just knew it would be given.

Tony Harrington, resign from PGMol.
In fact, all refs and Howard resign from PGMOL.
You’ve made yourselves embarrassments

Another inept referee that cannot see what’s in front of him. Referees have now stopped making decisions as they sit back & wait for VAR to intervene. Similarly some of the offsides not given by the liners were 2-3 yards off. The game has been ruined.

It was quite a lengthy wait for VAR but once they'd agreed with the referee, there is no need to send him to the screen. Two league games on the bounce now we've been done by Bankes on VAR.

Really surprised at the positivity about him on here- from my view behind the goal he let their striker get away with a lot of "clever" one handed pushes on Ekdal

I imagine if the ref watches it back he won’t be happy that he wasn’t sent to the screen.

The issue as I see it was var, they should have sent him to the screen. I hope Webb speaks to Banks about it.

A. Decision Making (including use of advantage) - out of 25 missed so many fouls and from the start allowed Adeybayo runs directly into 3 players each contact could have been a foul as no ball near , did the same at the start of 2nd half and kept up durring the match, pull back free kick given were was yellow card and the final decision to book Trafford and give a goal 5 pts for turning up
B. Consistency - out of 25 poor decision making makes this irelevant 2
C. Fitness and Positioning - of 25 was fit enough but did a coupl of times seem to almost be interfering with play 8
D. Control and Authority - out of 25 Did little to stop the manhandling of players 5

I fully accept that CT but when he personally sees it back I think he will realise he got it wrong. Had it been Rob Jones in the middle he’d have disallowed the goal and booked the Luton player.

I wonder if VAR Bankes was randomly checked they would find a secret Bookies account in his son's/wife's/daughter's name?
