None tonight, Trafford did that, or VK for not having a taller/stronger keeper - blame whichever.

its a foul, in any other game in any top league in europe
but as its burnley, in injury time - the guys making the decisions give it
he moves clearly into trafford to obstruct him getting the ball
saying that though tresor gave the ball away to allow them to attack
and we arent clinical enough

Have you actually watched it back? There is zero doubt that Adebayo backs into him whilst in no way attempting to go for the ball. Trafford has eyes on claiming the ball.
JJ Watt will be advising he is included in the next NFL draft he did that good a job on Trafford.

Just posted this on the Trafford thread..
If a player barging forward with his back to play blocking the keeper is not obstruction at the very least, something has gone very wrong in the rules.
I’m no lover of over protection for goalkeepers, and I prefer the idea of a more robust attitude in general, but if VAR are not over ruling that then it is time they called it a day. VAR was a great idea, but it has just another layer of bad refereeing through its bonkers implementation.

Just playing devil's advocate why then aren't free kicks awarded against us every time we kick off at the start of a game/half?
You can blatantly see 2 or 3 of our players block off the opposition forwards from chasing Trafford down and the ball isn't even in the same postcode.
Trafford had no need to come for that cross with all the bodies there and saves the header with ease if he stays put.
A real shame as I thought he had a good night between the posts tonight too, probably his best all round performance in a Clarets shirt.

I agree we were gash but it's definitely a clear error. Adebayo doesn't go for the ball, he goes for the man. Regardless of whether Trafford is going to get to the cross or not, he's not given the opportunity because Adebayo blocks him off. It's as blatant a foul on a goalkeeper as you'll ever see NOT given!!

If that was 5mins into the game at 0-0 the foul is given. Similar given in every single game you'll see. The ref bottled it, VAR bottled it

The fact we’re blaming VAR………Luton did a job……going to a back 5 invited them onto us.,…we all knew they always had a chance from balls into the box, corners etc…….
Trafford should have come through that #######

If referees had made all decisions correct this season, we would have had (I reckon) 18 points. We'll have 2 more for the goal disallowed at Forest, 1 for the last minute penalty not given at Bournemouth, 1 for the last minute penalty given at Villa, and 2 tonight. Plus the 12 that we have earned, none of them (so far as I know) noticeably affected by bad decisions.
But refs haven't made all decisions correctly, and if VAR wasn't in existence, we would have 14 points because the refs got the Bournemouth, Villa and Luton decisions wrong off their own bat. (VAR could have corrected them but decided not to.) So we have lost 4 of our 18 points, 22% of the total, so no wonder that they want to try and make it better. This is what VAR was brought in for.
And what's the effect of VAR? It's to find an excuse to disallow our winner at Forest. A decision so blatantly wrong that they wrote and apologised. Witohut VAR, our 18 points would have been cut to 14; with VAR, it's cut to 12. 33% of our earned points gone, because of poor refereeing made worse by VAR.
I reckon if they had a poll about VAR at Turf Moor before the match, there wouldn't have been 100 people inside the ground who like it in its current form and want it to remain. And I bet you wouldn't get anywhere near a majority who would want to keep it with tweaks. I don't know any football supporter who thinks it's a good thing.

If there was no VAR, it’s still a goal. The problem isn’t VAR, it’s **** refs.

VAR has added one thing. The cheer as Luton kicked off after our goal.
Once upon a time there was a signal to know that a goal had been given (the ball hitting the back of the net was a good sign, with a glance at the linesman and ref to confirm.) Now, it's not a goal until the next kick-off.

Just reading about whether VAR will ever be introduced in the championship. It was used in the play off finals the last two years. These lines made me laugh:
In the 2021/22 season, VAR was introduced in the Championship, League One and League Two play-off finals at Wembley.
This was the first time it was used in the play-off finals, and it was used again last season,
as the EFL wanted there to be no controversy when it came to the biggest games in the EFL calendar.

Should have had a pen v Man U
Another pen v whu
A red card a 0-0 v CP
We were lucky against Liverpool. But it made no difference
And earlier in the season an offside goal was given against us but we still lost
We ae possibly 10 pts short
We have played well in games and got nothing, and poorly in some and got something
But are well shy of what we deserve

3 things
1. It doesn't actually matter if Trafford is getting near the ball. A foul is a foul anywhere on the pitch, proximity to to the ball being irrelevant
2. He was easily getting to the area of the ball if he wasnt obstructed
3. Adebayo clearly obstructs Trafford moving towards the ball without any intention of playing the ball
It's about as blatant a foul as you will ever see. Every part of the rulebook and the simplest of interpretations at every level confirms it. Its only contentious if you deliberately bend the rules. Like VAR did

The PL has invented a new game where obstructing the goalkeeper doesn't count as a foul anymore. You can man mark the goalkeeper and block him out. Even at set pieces. Utter joke.

Loads of thing's to think about:
1) if no VAR - it's a goal
2) If VAR is there to change clear and obvious errors - they failed
3) anyone trying to blame Trafford has an agenda - sorry, my opinion - Muric would have done the same
4) I was angry about the decisions at Forrest, Villa, etc. etc. but this has made me FURIOUS. It was so obvious. I'm lost.
5) I'm a Burnley fan. I love my team and will support them. I believe that we are going overcome all this BS.
6) and I trust Kompany to do this.
P.S. I hope he tells Foster to go slam into Edison at the first opportunity and see what happens.

Not it’s that straight forward. The ref might not have been sure so hoped that VAR would sort it out.
Or without VAR, he could’ve backed himself more and disallowed the goal.
