Why would they abandon a match because someone is ill? It must cause huge inconvenience, but what good does it do?

Absolutely agree with this, by all means hold up the game whilst the person concerned gets the best available treatment, but once they've left for Hospital, then " the show must go on " ...

I agree re the medical emergency, awful for the individual but surely the game can proceed, you don't close a supermarket if someone has a medical episode. Hope the person is ok.

I don’t know the facts, but if someone is taken seriously ill, It probably means that club can't fullfill the medical protocols for the match to continue. No ambulance, de-fib kit or club doctor etc.

They all don't go in the ambulance.

But I think there needs to be an emergency ambulance present at the stadium, for instance.

Reading fans invadecpitch, after initially throwing tennis balls. The Chinese Reading owner is not paying any bills. Club in grave danger. Badlands foreign owners. Disappearing Russian to penniless China man!

Horrible news from Bolton, but how have the reading owners ever been allowed into football.

It’s absolutely shameful and this stuff needs cracking down on. Just hope for Everton’s sake, the 777 partners deal is receiving the appropriate level of scrutiny.

Firstly, sad to hear someone has been taken ill to such an extent at Bolton. Not long ago they'd have played on but that doesn't happen now.
As for Reading, while it is so wrong for fans to behave like this, there is a limit to how much they can be pushed and the owner of Reading is killing the club. I think we would all do what we thought necessary to fight for our club's existence.

To think Readings highlight last season was that we couldn't beat their points tally. Re the owner another example of the pathetic fit and proper person rule, the snivelling, grovelling football officials are like slugs slithering and sliding to a lettuce dazzled by wealth and bullsh1t, someday soon the corruption and backhanders. will be exposed

History shows that Reading were a third-tier club before Madejski and they're back to that now. Large catchment area but not got that real football culture.

Two wholly different situations occuring on the same day at the same time by pure coincidence it seems.
The Bolton game is a strange one because as others have said it's absolutely awful for the individual involved who was taken ill, but these things have happened at footy from time to time and the game always goes ahead, so there must be more to it I feel.
Reading fans we have to sympathise with I think because just like others before them (Charlton, Pompey, Bolton etc) they're being shafted by a crap owner and this has to stop. Whatever their "history" or lack of it, they're footy fans following their team, just like us and just like every fan at every club you never know when things could go tits up and we're in exactly that same position. The thing is that sadly they'll probably just lose tons more points and end up in league two.

I was watching a few videos yesterday online of the pitch invasion and one of the chants was "We want our Reading back", I thought to myself, you're in League One, that is exactly where Reading have been over the vast majority of their history before Madejski appeared with his millions, similar to Wigan and Dave Whelan.
Funny how the Reading fans hounded Madejski out of the club for something better, the grass isn't always greener.

I remember going to a Peterboro' match years ago with a mate. Not a Burnley game. I was a a little tipsy, (Actually very! And in my teens)
Didnt a player die on the field, and game carry on?

Aged 71, really sad to hear of his passing.
As for Reading, it’s easy to scoff and say they are where they have always been. The truth is that the club owner is destroying to club and what level they are playing at hardly matters. They have a real fear that they are going to lose their club altogether. There comes a time when they have to take some action.

Reading have today, sold one of their players to Luton.
Being reported that the manager and DOF knew nothing about it.
Hope the protests continue, the owner is a wrong un and has left a trail in his wake, of similar incidents at other clubs.

I remember our cup replay v Sheffield United in 1992. A Blades fan in the away end suffered a heart attack and he was carried out onto the sideline between the away end and the CF stand. Very difficult to focus on the game when a few rows in front of me paramedics were trying to save a bloke's life. Sadly he didn't make it.
