Hi all,

We thought we'd try something a bit different this week and do a live recording of the podcast on YouTube. We're broadcasting from 7.15pm on Thursday if anyone fancies joining us and putting questions to the panel.

Live to the broadcast is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfsf65TDjD8

Another post has had to be edited because of bickering.

Pathetic isn't it,bickering when it's an invite to discuss the club
My question was about ideas to improve the catering.

What is a realistic ceiling for a club like Burnley?

I wonder if its time to start to focus a little more on ALK and their influence on the unbalanced recruitment in the summer transfer window plus whether it is true that VK's own analytics company identifies players for recruitment and if so is this influencing team selections? I'd also like to hear much more about 'the project' that is often mentioned. As a Project Manager of many years i know that all projects are a temporary organisation set up to achieve specific goals via specific objectives over an estimated timescale. Do we as fans know anything about the objectives and indeed the goal of 'the project' other than to make millions of dollars for ALK off the back of a LBO? What do we believe is the timescale to achieve the goal and how do player sales fit in to the overall goal? Maybe a little dry and dull for some but i think the long term future of our club is being put at risk, if events on the pitch take a massive downturn, by the admittedly pleasant and seemingly genuine Alan Pace and his colleagues.

I had heard they were hoping to sell everything by the end of this window including the ground, players and training complex then walk away with millions and millions.

I’d heard the same about the scouting system ,if that’s true and VK decides to leave whose going to do the scouting.

Just please get Chris Boden educated on our transfer spend in the summer. For an experienced reporter it’s painful. Fees with future potential bonuses (most of our deals given their age) does NOT mean that money has been paid yet, or ever will be! If he mentions 130m again, when it’s actually way below 100, ahhh…

Quite a few erroneous facts unchallenged of late on there.

This week it was a claim that Koleosho has only played 6 games in the Prem before his injury, to back up a point about it being unlikely we could make a profit on him.

I haven’t looked, but he only got injured last month, so I reckon he’ll have played 14-15 games.

Transfermarket has a figure of 111m euros, plus the fees to be paid for Tresor and Bruun Larsen to add to that. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burn ... erein/1132

Koleosho 13 stars and 2 sub appearances.....

For a start, 111m euros is £95m. Quite a few of them are also incorrect. Ramsey was £12m, not £14m. Amdouni’s €18m will undoubtedly include bonus clauses. Odobert was reported at €11m not 12. Not sure why Tresor gets added to this season when he won’t be permanent until the summer window (see Beyer being included this summer in a similar arrangement). Also same with Larsen (not even sure there’s a clause with him). Overall, saying we spent £130m, which Chris keeps saying, is miles off it.

I've stuck Bodes on the naughty step for this. He's been given revision to do ahead of Thursday's podcast and I'm going to quiz him on each player's transfer fee (to the penny!).

Values said with such certainty..... you might have that information, and fair play to you, but the rest of us have to rely on relatively trustworthy independent assessments of what undisclosed fees actually mean. Transfermarket is the most reputable source for such things I believe. £95m plus 2 committed spends doesn't take you too far off the quoted number.

Fees should be published in my view, mainly because it’s usually an exercise in PR. The selling club leaks the absolute maximum value of the deal and include all the clauses (some of which might never be met) and the buying club play down what they’ve paid. I think Kompany has played down the side of a few of the fees already this season.

The truth probably lies somewhere between the two versions, but we’ll never know until they are published.

Are you sure he doesn’t mean Kompany has spent 130 million building this squad, which can’t be far out?

Seems to always refer to it as last summers spend when I’ve listened. Typical questions such as ‘how is a team that had 130m spent on it looking worse than before’.

Our happyclappers on here are always trying to go with the lowest purchase figure to try to make out we haven’t been quite as ripped off with the trash acquisitions we’ve been making.

You watch though and on player sales they’ll be including all sell on clauses they think are included in those deals.

Yep - saying half a dozen instead of a dozen games was inaccurate - fair enough.

The point was that if he is out for most of the rest of this season, he is unlikely to attract a massive transfer fee. I think that remains valid.
