It’s interesting how people see things differently. I think this is a great time to be a Burnley fan. All depends what you value most as a supporter I suppose.

Agreed. It's nice to feel that there is a long-term vision. Not felt that before, always treading water and trying to stay afloat!PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:58 pmIt’s interesting how people see things differently. Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
I hope this doesn't count as a 'pointless debate' (although, perhaps it's worthy of it's own discussion in some ways). Just an observation I made...our squad is absolutely massive.
To put in perspective, Chelsea have 54 players comprising their first team squad according to Wikipedia (this also includes a load of youngsters who have never played for them).
Burnley (assuming we sign Esteve and the right back), according to Wikipedia, comprise 42.
I use Chelsea as a yardstick because their squad is infamously large, and whilst we're still 12 less it looks similar realistically when you discount the amount of players Chelsea have who have never even played in the league for their first team but have squad numbers (looks like 8). You could only really apply the same to Agyei and Dodgson for us...
Big decisions are going to have to be made this coming summer.

I totally get that, but no model is perfect. Look around at what goes on at other clubs and I think we can count ourselves fortunate.

At risk of extending the non-transfer talk, I wasn't specifically targetting you. More the fact it was running off track again. Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
I can’t understand anyone feeling disconnected to the club.
What do you want from them? Unfetted access on your terms to the players? Open access to the chairman?
We are supporters not owners, voting investors, or sponsors.
Thats it!

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
I feel both deflated and excited about our squad, it's very odd. So much talent and potential, so little nous or leadership. It's the next transfer window window that's really important, can we keep our best players when we go down. With more experience and development this squad stays up easy peasy.

I fully agree, I feel no different towards the club now, than I have for the past 60+ years.
I don't think they felt detached last season

I’m in the detached camp. Doesn’t feel like Burnley anymore.
Who’s in then? The centre half and right back?

It’s really not that difficult to understand.
Just respect the fact that some supporters feel disconnected and some don’t.
You don’t have to state really obvious things like we are supporters not owners. Do you think there is a single supporter who read your comment and thought “mmm I thought I owned the club…..thanks for pointing that out” ?

At a guess, because we aren't winning all the time like last season , lol
Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Probably a combination of American owners, new social media teams, daft signing videos etc. Players that we don’t know if they’ll stay if we go down. An uncertain future financially if the current owners get bored.
I know football as a whole has changed so that’s probably thrown into it. Hard to pinpoint but it’s just how I feel. Still love the club but I’m fed up of being miserable every weekend. .
Not having a dig and I get others will like how it’s changed and that’s fair enough.

To get back on point...
Lorenz Assignon - not heard anything to the contrary
Maxime Esteve - I assume just waiting for announcement
Thomas Meunier - gone a bit quiet
Hugo Ekitike - read one rumour. Nothing since
Joe Bevan - announced
Franchi - gone
Sass - rumours to Blackpool
Roberts - loads to Leeds possible if we sign a RB
Zaroury - possibly to Hull, but might be nonsense
Benson - all seems to be off the cards but might be late movement
Lorenz Assignon - not heard anything to the contrary

Did it feel like Burnley last season?
Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
I do get the disconnect, we’ve been forced into signing 30+ new players since VK walked through the door 18 months ago. Hopefully we can now start to see a bit of a consistent settled team for years to come. Playing in a different league in every VK season doesn’t help the stability really.

Re: Actual Transfer News - NO BICKERING or pointless debates...
Last season was great on the pitch but I still felt like we could spiral out of control off it. I genuinely worry for us. I’m 50 years old so I’m not naive. As I said, a lot of change has happened in a short space of time and it worries me. It’s a feeling that’s all. Like a boom and bust feel to it. Once the owners are bored etc.
It’s not for this thread though so I apologise. Back to transfers.

Ekrem Konur who just seems to make random stuff up but he does have 250k followers, says Benson to Villarreal and the BBC have picked up on it. But we’d have to make one of our out loans permanent

Zaroury to Hull is on according to BBC.

According to the Hull chairman, Zaroury is almost done. They interviewed him on Sky.

I read somewhere that we can only loan out 7 players. Is that correct?

BBC also running with Benson to Villareal.
Just to clarify Charlie’s point there is a hitch because there is a limit of seven outgoing loans (excepting U21s or home grown players). Currently we have seven out already who meet the criteria.

Palace sign Rovers player Adam Wharton for £18 million & rising.
Nice piece of business for the No-dads and presumably alleviates their cash flow problems caused by the Indian Government blocking Venky’s fund transfers.
