It's quite funny listening to the Welsh commentary, sounds like they're swearing half of the time.

2-0 to Bournemouth after ten mins - still got Welsh commentary
Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Me neither but have worked out that Bournemouth are already winning 2-0. And they have VAR.
Oh it's 3-0 now.
Oh it's 3-0 now.

I'm watching with the sound off while listening to commentary on Radio Solent on the BBC Sport web site..........only issue is that the Radio Commentary is a full minute behind the TV picture!

Speaking personally I think I prefer the Welsh commentary. The English commentators are usually speaking a lot of nonsense anyway.

Pretty much every relevant match up this season has shown how big the gap between the top two divisions has become.

Iwan Roberts commentating for BBC Radio Wales, I listened to his Undr the Cosh podcast the other day, said Ternent tried to sign him for Burnley in the early 2000s but couldn't agree a fee with Norwich so we signed Gareth Taylor instead.

Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
I think we're partly responsible for this.
We set a blueprint last year of how a team can win in that division, it seems that all the other Championship sides are now playing a version of that and they're royally stuffed when playing a Prem team.
As we found out.

Swansea with 52% possession losing 5 - 0. Draw your own conclusions.

Look at the match stats, 53% possession for Swans and 8 shots to Bournemouth's 8!

Not sure what Trafford was supposed to do. He was positioned exactly where we would want him to be. If Vitinho doesn’t give it away …..StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:32 pmJust think, if Trafford hadn’t been humiliated with that goal who knows what would have happened?

I see the Boro and Swansea scores this week as a big problem for the English pyramid, it's going to be harder and harder for anyone to get promoted and stay up. That's not a healthy situation

Could even be the three that went down to come up and replace the three that went up last season. All that can do is re-inforce the 'no relegation' mentality that appears to have some purchase in the PL.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:38 pmI see the Boro and Swansea scores this week as a big problem for the English pyramid, it's going to be harder and harder for anyone to get promoted and stay up. Not really at all, these are one off games. Just to recall that a year ago Championship Burnley went to Premier League Bournemouth and beat them 4-2.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:38 pmI see the Boro and Swansea scores this week as a big problem for the English pyramid, it's going to be harder and harder for anyone to get promoted and stay up. Yeah last season all the promoted teams did really well, so can’t read too much into what is most likely a temporary trend.

I suppose this means our game against Bournemouth on March 2nd will now be moved?

Abertawe could easily be translated as Abattoir. They’re getting slaughtered.

I was thinking that Bournemouth had an advantage with a referee called England but then quickly reminded myself that no team has an advantage with this referee.

Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
the PL has gotten a whole lot better in the last year, even the lower teams are much better than anyone in the Championship. A one off game makes it easier for the Championship teams to compete yet on the whole they don't. When Boro beat Chelsea a few weeks ago at the Riverside Chelsea missed enough chances to win 5 games.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 8:44 pmNot really at all, these are one off games. Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
I've been watching this on S4C (always worthwhile keeping an eye out on what's on Sgorio if you follow footy and/or rugby union).
You can turn the sound off and put subtitles on - they're in English. if you want to pick up the odd bit of Welsh you can keep the sound on and have the English subtitles.
un, dau, tri, pedwar, pump (chwech, saith, wyth?).
I notice Kyle Naughton is in the Swans team, 35 now - a couple of years older than Kyle Walker - the full back pairing from our Wembley game v blades (nearly 15 years ago ).

Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
I don’t think it’s got a whole lot better in the last year at all. I think that view is coming from our inability to compete at this level which is very much more about us.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:03 pmthe PL has gotten a whole lot better in the last year, even the lower teams are much better than anyone in the Championship. Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Not really CT, you just need to look at the quality of both players and managers employed on the whole in this league now, then the amount they spend on players (it will be interesting to see how that continues now the PL is seemingly clamping down on FFP). No coincidence and entirely predictable that the bottom 3 are the promoted teamsClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:11 pmI don’t think it’s got a whole lot better in the last year at all. Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Predictable because the three teams who have come up have to a large extent failed with their preparations. This doesn’t mean the league has leapt forward in the last year and I don’t honestly think it has.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:16 pmNot really CT, you just need to look at the quality of both players and managers employed on the whole in this league now, then the amount they spend on players (it will be interesting to see how that continues now the PL is seemingly clamping down on FFP). And no goals in the second half, Bournemouth win 5-0.
Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Teams have their pressing systems so well drilled now that teams from a lower level are found out straight away when they try to play out from the back. Managers never learn though. Even at Bournemouth away last season when we played so well we still got caught out playing out.

I think your point about failure to prepare properly is very valid, especially us given we were up so early
Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Yep but their pressure caused the mistake. Just watched it back again, they had bodies everywhere ready to pounce and i think that pressure directly caused the bad pass. In hindsight it was a sign of what was to come at this level for Cullen, he just doesnt have the awareness or composure required at the top level for the role hes asked to play.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:38 pmWe only got caught out because of one horrendous pass from Cullen

Re: Bournemouth v Abertawe (Swansea)
Even though they are very different players Cullen reminds me a little of Brownhill in his first season in the PL, just that fraction of a second slow in thought and that's lethal at this level - he's already 27 so he should be hitting his true peak levels soon enough (whatever they may be). When you consider how imperious he was last season I've been surprised by him, I thought he was one who would step up comfortably.Goliath wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:50 pmYep but their pressure caused the mistake.
