FAO Calder Valley Clarets (Thursday 30th May: Mytholmroyd)

Hi all,

As you likely know, West Yorkshire Clarets meet on the final Thursday of the month in a different real ale pub around the region (Bradford, Halifax, Tod, Bingley, Leeds, Huddersfield, Keighley, Mytholmroyd…to name a few)

We have made the decision, if it’s okay with you, to drop our toes over the boundary line and to hold our April meeting on the 25th, somewhere in your vicinity, in the hope that you might want to join us for a few drinks and a chat about the Clarets. We would welcome anyone who wishes to join us.

At the moment, we are thinking that CONONLEY would be the best place to head to, as: it’s closer to the boundary, it’s right next to the train station and we hear that it has a pub that is run by a Claret, who we would be more than happy to support, should they be happy to welcome us.

Anyway, you’re all welcome. Let me know if you’d fancy joining us for a few hours, or if you have any other thoughts.

Best wishes

John

Cononley? At least you'll be able to compare your 12 fingers with the villagefolk ;)

I may bob over if I've time.

Lovely place Cononley. We used to go to the Riverside campsite quite a lot when we had the tent.

The pub indeed was owned/run by keen Clarets.

Cononley is almost as weird as Trawden.

As an official Trawdener, I’ll let this one slide!

Cononley is likely off due to the pub having a quiz night and we’ve been told that space to sit would be difficult.

We are very likely to hold our meet up in Skipton, somewhere near the centre and accessible from the station.

If anyone would like to recommend a real ale pub or better still, if you would like to join us for the evening, please do get in touch.

Try The Beer Engine, only 5 mins walk from station, current local CAMRA pub of the year for the last 2 years as well as being a CAMRA Pub of the Year Finalist 2023.

Try giving them a bell (No is on website, won't post it on here) and talk to Steve or Adam - There is a fantastic pizza place next door too.

Might even make an appearance seeing as Friday won't be a work day by then - I'm located in Glusburn and will be at SB tomorrow.

Another choice could be the Woolley sheep Inn.
Timothy Taylor beers & a couple of rooms that can be booked.
Not much room around the bar though.
I wouldn't mind turning up for a pint.

Thanks guys,

I contacted The Beer Engine this morning and they are reserving the new room for us. I told them to expect 12-16 of us (approx) and they said they’d accommodate.

Would be lovely to meet you and happy to move on elsewhere later if it suits.

John
