No way should it be allowed anywhere near our most glorious of British cuisine. Who could utter such filth. I am an old fart but have accepted self identifying, on line banking, risk assessments, vegans and dogs in coats but this is a step to far.
Sausage, bacon, eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes or beans in an emergency, fried bread and or toast. Hot drink of choice, ketchup or brown sauce.
Perfect, leave it be.

Why would anyone put a tomato, let alone a Pineapple on a perfectly good English?

Is it Chicken Maryland that has a pineapple fritter?

Very tasty.

( I'm thinking banana now, but still, pineapple fritter is good).

It really is,it's not in dispute, but so is fried chicken and calamari but you wouldn't put that near our glorious full English.

Chicken Maryland can have both a pineapple fritter and fried banana included…more so if purchased in Scotland!

I'm not keen on mixing savoury with sweet. You can shove such perversions up your banana fritter.

Almost as bad as adding hash browns , which though ok as a stand alone , are about as welcome on a full English as a turd in a christening font .

This isn't a thread to discuss pineapplephobia, it's a lovely fruit ,full of flavour, adaptable and more than welcome into Britain Society in fact it's a very popular member of yhe fruit salad and delicious on gammon where it holds its own in.the egg debate. It's just the fry up it's not welcome on, and it's not because it's imported, i wouldn'thave poached pear, stewed apple plumbs or anything like that.

You have gammon and pineapple, so why not bacon and pineapple?

I like pineapple but if I have too much it can give me a sort of indigestion.

Over here in the Philippines they eat pineapple and put salt on it. Mind you they add salt and far too much of it to everything.

You may have pineapple on your gammon but ....

... I'm not sure normal people do!

And I'm certain I have never and will never do that! I don't even like that apple sauce with pork idea.

MK! In Mexico they put Chamoy (salty red sauce) on their fruit. Literally a $1 a bottle. Life changing experience!

The best pizza I’ve ever had was from a Jamaican place in Kentucky. Chicken, barbecue sauce, jalapeños, charred pineapple chunks and charred mandarins, covered in mozzarella.

😱😱😱

Pineapples grow like weeds here…freshly cut pineapple is definitely thirst quenching on a v.hot day. Many Thai people like it dipped in a mix of chili powder and sugar.

That’s what the Chamoy I referenced above is somewhat like. Put it on any fruit and it’s yum

I’m all for embracing change but as the OP says, this is crossing the line. It’ll be a cold day in hell before a goddam pineapple ends up near my breakfast.

Why try and fix the one perfect thing in this country.

I'm open minded with food. But adding pineapple to a breakfast is just wrong. Pineapple and beans

The food is very hit and miss there to say the least. Best food we are was always the local stuff. We kept being given this soy and vinegar relish which was bloody delicious. Served a few times with rice, adobo and freshly caught tuna. Maybe mkmel might know the name of that relish/sauce so I can find a recipe to make it back home.

Hash browns are the least healthy component of a fried breakfast, worse even than fried bread. Beans are no substitute for grilled tomatoes :D

I treated myself to a proper full English all ingredients purchased from Aldi just to show this isn't a little englander thing, and looking down on that plate of loveliness the thought of pineapple sneaking in and spoiling it reminded me of when one of my children did me a lovely drawing at school but their so called friend ruined it by scribbling on it , a small tear formed.

The guardian has a real bee in its bonnet about this English breakfast club thing.

It’s not much more than Twitter account as far as I’m aware posting pictures of dry ups.

But this is the second guardian article on them now. Oddly enough, this one appears to be written with the kind of angle one would associate more with the Daily Mail.

Sausage, bacon, eggs, black pudding, tomatoes (grilled til soft or tinned), hash brown, mushrooms, beans and toast. Brew on the side.

I'm not eating a full English to be healthy :D

Though I get some might want/need to make it healthier.

Even the finest culinary brain on the world stage at the moment won't have pineapple on his sensasional groundbreaking never been thought of before bacon egg and sausage sandwich. If it's not right for this Michelin barred cook it's not right for humanity.

Tomatoes- improved heart health, cancer prevention, and protection against sunburn
Mushrooms - cancer prevention, soak up excess sodium in the body, reduce cholesterol, brain health, source of Vit D, promotes gut health and general immunity,
Pineapple - Highly nutritious, antioxidants may… aid digestion, reduce risk of cancer, fights inflammation (useful for arthritis)… and incredibly posh in the 17th century.

I’ll keep my full English for breakfast thanks… pineapple will stay on the menu for gammon at teatime and ‘afters’.

Pineapple is a slightly peculiar addition to a fried breakfast, whether you want to claim your own interpretaton is canon, or otherwise.

I enjoy sriracha with most versions of a fried breakfast, sandwiches or 'Full English'. It's really good, you should try it unless you avoid ginger snaps because they are too hot.

Hash browns? Perfectly good carb. Beans? Always better than a tomato.

Can’t believe how many of you have binned off fried bread and substituted it for toast. Toast is a side dish to compliment fried bread and the other full English ingredients.

although I like to substitute hash browns for actual hash brown or chopped fried potatoes

Well made fried bread, crisp and tasty is a real treat, dipped into a perfectly fried free range egg with a sliver of bacon added and a smear of ketchup is one of the culinary highlights.
