Tonight’s football
Tonight’s football
Just watching Spurs v City ,can’t wait for Wednesday.
Re: Tonight’s football
This game is a proper bore fest, yet Ally McCoist and Sam Matterface are waxing lyrical about brilliant football.
Re: Tonight’s football
Richarlison being an absolute tool as usual.
Re: Tonight’s football
Trafford-esque.
Re: Tonight’s football
VAR just like Trafford against Luton ,and the goalkeeper was as weak as Trafford.

Correct decision. Dreadful goalkeeping.

It's like a game of chess. Been bored to death so dismantled my recent lego.
Re: Tonight’s football
I think the Luton goal has set a new precedent now. Refs are going to have to give them all now

Re: Tonight’s football
Don't think that one is a foul. Equal contest between the goalie and attacker to win the ball and the goalie wasn't strong enough. Totally different to Trafford/Adebayo

Re: Tonight’s football
And again the correct decision made - weak goalkeeper.
Re: Tonight’s football
I didn’t know you couldn’t be offside at a corner, genuinely missed this growing up!
Re: Tonight’s football
Adebayo jumped in to Trafford to impede him, there wasn't an attempt for the ball nor was he in line with it.
Dias just stood his ground, tonight was the correct decision.

Re: Tonight’s football
That’s not a foul because he’s not just barged into the keeper like the Luton player did.

Re: Tonight’s football
Ally McCoist boring on about weak keeper. The keeper can’t go through Diaz or it’s a pen. Spurs should have had a defender in front of Diaz to stop the cross.

Re: Tonight’s football
Backing in but not to same extent as Adebayo which was a look at a bum shove that WWF would be proud of. The ball was in playing distance tonight so arguably the challenge should be allowed.
One thing is for sure though - if Harrington and co had done their jobs against us, that gets disallowed tonight, on a consistency basis because they always get disallowed, so the knock on from our game is it has cost Spurs a chance of progressing in the cup. These refs are so rubbish they are like sheep, controversy in one game then affects reffing in the next ones.
(I’d give both goals personally if I were setting the rules, but that isn’t the point, I’m not)

Sorry can’t agree on that ,I’ve seen several different angles of the Luton goal, and Trafford never gets off the ground ,but that’s last weeks chip paper.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 9:53 pmDon't think that one is a foul. I wonder if Ange will view it as a foul or just weak from his goalkeeper?

Good to see Forrest still playing games in the cup, more games could mean more injuries suspensions etc.

Foul or not Dias is blatantly offside and clearly interfering with play.

Re: Tonight’s football
Offside from a corner, NO. Closer call as Ake poked it home but there was a defender at the back post.ArnoldBenson wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 10:20 pmFoul or not Dias is blatantly offside and clearly interfering with play.

Re: Tonight’s football
Both Romero & Richarlison went down tonight holding their heads when the challenges were not close to there. This needs stopping with yellow cards.

Re: Tonight’s football
How can you be offside from a corner? You can’t be in front of the ball.

Re: Tonight’s football
You probably can if the ball is placed close to the side line and an attacking player is stood on the goal line.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:14 pmHow can you be offside from a corner? You can’t be in front of the ball.

You’re absolutely right, and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to realise that!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2024 11:14 pmHow can you be offside from a corner? You can’t be in front of the ball.
Having my wife explain that to me last night, wasn’t a high point of 2024!

Re: Tonight’s football
You can't under the laws of the game - the corner is deemed to be taken from the line although I know in today's VAR world a player could be a toe nail in an offside position.

Re: Tonight’s football
There is no offside offence if a player receives the ball directly
from: a goal kick. a throw-in. a corner kick.
