Re: Thread for tonight?
Al Dakhil at left back, all hope has been lost. Did VK not witness the Luton game?

That back 4
Re: Thread for tonight?
If he's willing to play Al Dakhil left back tonight I'd wager he goes with him there Saturday too. Vitinho can play left back and Roberts right back or even switch Vitinho and Al Dakhil, there's no logical reason to play Al Dakhil at left backRick_Muller wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 6:33 pmwe could play 10 at the back and it still wont be enough... just enjoy the ride tonight - the real game is on Saturday

Come on, Roberts, an established RB, whilst we jam square pegs in round holes is bonkers.

This is possibly the least optimistic and less arsed I've ever been about a game in my 27 years ish of watching the Clarets.
0 matchday buzz whatsoever, even now with just 45 min until kick off, anyone else feel the same?

We would probably have been better off forfeiting the game and only conceding 3-0 as a result

Re: Thread for tonight?
Here’s a bit from the BBC build up
City are the best team in the world'
Man City v Burnley (19:30 GMT)
Burnley
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany speaking to TNT Sports: "We are not used to having a break in the Premier League. Hopefully it gives the energy we need for the lads to carry on. Carry on battling and hopefully it helps us bring the results."
On having Sander Berge back: "Berge is a big player for us and not having him in the last game was a big blow. He is big for us. Fofana has only trained a few times and we are excited to see him in the colours for us."
On facing City: "It is the best team in the world at the moment so we have to look at this as a chance to do something special. Our eagerness now is to bring home the points. This is just the next game and we want to do something special today.
On returning to City: "I am so consumed and dedicated than the job I have to do for Burnley at the moment that I don't put much time into to much else. It is nice to see smiling faces and stuff but I will focus on Burnley and then hopefully we will be able to look at memories after."

Ridiculous isnt it. Im not Roberts biggest fan but if its between him and Vitinho or even him and Al dakhil at lefy back then there really is only one obvious choice. Im a supporter of Kompany but im absolutely baffled that hes persisting with Vitinho.burnleymik wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 6:40 pmCome on, Roberts, an established RB, whilst we jam square pegs in round holes is bonkers.

It seems like some players are dropped for the most minor reasons yet a player who makes dreadful mistakes over and over again just gets to play 90 minutes every week. Its one of the strangest selection decisions ive seen in 20 years of watching Burnley

Re: Thread for tonight?
Some more info from the BBC tonight.
Burnley spent close to £100m in the summer but have so far only added David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea in January.
Now French centre-back Maxime Esteve looks like being next through the door at Turf Moor with reports of a medical scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
When asked about the 21-year-old on Tuesday, manager Vincent Kompany said: "All I can say is that he's not our player at the moment. I think we're past the point where I can deny there has been interest, right? But the point is he's not our player."
Meanwhile, BBC Sport understands the Clarets have rejected a loan move from Lille for winger Anass Zaroury.
The Moroccan was one of the star performers in Burnley's promotion last season but is understood to be frustrated at the lack of game time this season.
One player who looks like staying at the club is Manuel Benson - the Belgian was linked with a move to the Championship this month, with Southampton and Hull both interested, but a deal did not materialise

Alright, i think we'll get battered too, but a professional football club not taking a game seriously?
As someone above says, we should at least be competing.
Extraordinary comment.
I didn't mean it literally, it was seeing the defence, more specifically Al Dhakil at left back, I think that's an extraordinary decision.

Re: Thread for tonight?
Throwing him into tonight’s game would be a touch unfair after a long absence (not that he would start/complete the game or finish it).Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 6:51 pmCan’t believe Benson can’t even get on the bench

He’ll have his chances now, up to him to prove himself.
I would expect him in the squad Saturday.

Re: Thread for tonight?
To be injured for so long he has to have 1 of 2 thing's, either a serious ligament injury /tear, or a leg break. What else could keep him out for so long ? No doubt some will say "a recurrence" well I'm not buying that. If report's are true he's staying, then there's absolutely no logical reason he's not in the squad, surely as has been said he's fallen out with vk.

Re: Thread for tonight?
I agree tbh - no one remember Roberts against Richarlison/Everton?
Dyche subbed him at half-time (maybe even before) - he couldn't get near him, like, not even within 5 yards of him.
Not the game for Roberts at all.
