Charlie Taylor
What's the latest on Chaz btw?
We really need him - now more than ever, though is could be said Ameen Al-Dakhil did well as a stand in last night, seems like having a bit of time out of the side to naturally develop has helped him.
Would just prefer to... not have a stand in, if you catch my drift.

Re: Charlie Taylor
It’s a funny one Taylor wasn’t number one choice in the league below but now in the league above he is as there is nobody else. Imagine if we’ve got promoted early and being able to have a plan for Maatsen not staying.

Was it a dislocated shoulder? If so dont they take ages, i remember Austin being out for a while and Popes missed months for Newcastle

Re: Charlie Taylor
Any more news on when Taylor might be fit again?
I saw some posters say a month - was that a month from when it happened or a month from when it mentioned a week ago?

We need him back.
I see we tried for a few LB's in Jan.

Re: Charlie Taylor
We need Taylor back in the team, and I know I’m in the minority here, but I thought Vitinho looked good when he was attacking down the left wing in the last half hour against Fulham.

Not buying a left back in the last window was extremely foolish - to put it very politely.

It was foolish in the summer. In January with Chaz out, it's just plain nuts.LincsWoldsClaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:26 pmNot buying a left back in the last window was extremely foolish - to put it very politely.
Re: Charlie Taylor
Out for a few weeks yet. He was guest in the Longside Lounge on Saturday and he wasn't talking about an immediate return.

I'd be having Ward in ahead of Taylor any day.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 12:33 pmAs good a left back I have seen in a Burnley shirt since Alex Elder

Re: Charlie Taylor
Ian Maatsen was a loan player and not our player.
All the others mentioned including Ward were all excellent players and some may have been slightly better .
It is all about opinions .
I was going back a lot of years just to emphasise how good Taylor is because Alex Elder was the best I have ever seen playing for the Clarets.

No arguments with that but Keith Newton was also a great acquisition albeit towards the end of his career. Not forgetting the important contribution from Stephen Ward more recently.

Re: Charlie Taylor
No mentions for 'Whoosh' for best left-back?
Re: Charlie Taylor
Ward was better, it's a shame he only moved to left back later in his career or he'd have spent a lot more time in the Premier League.
Makes you wonder how many other players have wasted much of their careers playing in positions that they aren't best suited to.

Re: Charlie Taylor
According to Matt Williams we tried for various players, including LB's in Jan, but couldn't get clubs to release the players.
It's a balance I guess, over paying for upgrades, or relying on what you have.
We were prepared to go BIG on Maatsen.

Graham Alexander looked at home in midfield
after spending most of his career as a right back.
