His longevity is absolutely insane - not to mention that he actually had a few years actually out of the England side after his initial debut/ run of games yet is still just 9 wickets away from taking 700 as a seamer, at an average of 26.

Unbelievable achievement.

The bloke is just superb and I totally agree that if he was from Yorkshire, or Surrey or whatever there'd be far more appreciation shown for him.

And yet they managed, a few years ago, to change the road name outside Turf Moor from Brunshaw Rd to Harry Potts Way, so it isn't that difficult, especially if they use it on a road with no houses such as Centenary Way. Also, Royal Mail sorting is done by computer nowadays so it would be a simple matter to change a postal address!

Changing street names can be difficult. When the stretch from the Wellington to the Park View was renamed Harry Potts Way in 2001, the only occupants were the bookies and Burnley FC so it was easy.

Been mentioned previously on this thread, rename Centenary Way. I learned recently that even Tesco's address is Finsley Gate so there would be no issues.

And yes, get the statue too.

I remember talking to his dad at a Lancs League game when Jimmy was still a kid playing for Burnley and he said he'd given him a rollocking for sticking colour in his hair even then.

Not just the town but the whole country. Alastair Cooke one of the best opening batsman to have played for England was knighted before he retired and one of the best opening bowlers should receive a similar honour.

The Full Councill spent a considerable amount of time at their December meeting formulating a strong letter to be written to the Prime Minister regarding a ceasefire in Gaza .. this will cause the Israeli leadership to change course when they get wind of this, I'm sure !!

Fantastic, stuff like that can really become a hotspot for people visiting the town. Might be being greedy but i think there should be statues of various people in both the town centre and around the ground.

Its poor that it hasnt already been done but its probably something that has to be led by the people of the town to put pressure on the council/football club.

Anderson and Jimmy Mcllroy are the 2 obvious ones but theres a lot more that are worthy of one. Im 32 so in ny generation Dyche is probably the one that stands out above all others and maybe even Rodriguez as someone that comes from the town and became an international.

Im sure some of the older posters would be able to make some better suggestions as well.

I'm not so keen on statues of specific footballers because of the opinion of who is most deserving, but if I were to have one in Burnley, I'd like this moment to be represented near something commemorating the 1960 Champions as well.

Show me one photo of Jimmy at Arsenal. He spends lots of time in London but i have never seen him there or heard of him visiting.
He was a massive Ian Wright fan at school. While working in our ticket office and having a ST at Burnley with the rest of his family.

He is shown nearly every week on TV cameras watching Burnley when the cricket allows.
