Searched going in

Going through the turnstiles today with my 11 year old Grandson 2 stewards pulled me to one side and asked if I wouldn't mind being searched.A quick pat of my arms and legs then allowed to go on then letting my Grandson through first the lad on the gate leaned over asked if he was with me before he would let him through. This was about 2•15 in the JML is this a random thing or are they getting a bit stricter on entry. The last time I can remember being searched would have been the 80s

I wasn’t searched at all, but I witnessed a steward catch up with a man walking with a rucksack on his back behind the Jimmy Mac stand… He pulled the man back and pushed him back towards the search table near the clubshop. It was beyond unprofessional and the guy was clearly very upset by it, and quite rightly started shouting at the steward. It’s my understanding that no steward should be touching anyone (and this particular steward was quite forceful in his approach). I didn’t even think they were allowed to touch the bag? I thought you opened the bag for them to look inside.

I thought it was OTT last time I was searched was Rochdale away. A lady behind me refused and the steward just said no problem. Guy who searched me looked embarrassed and apologised. Weird.

It's absolutely unprofessional at the very least for stewards to be touching people or their bags in this scenario

I have a backpack most games, as I often take the 2 kids on, and they need a variety of things. Usually I offer to show my bag as I go past the table. But recently they don't seem to care much. Didn't even pass a bag search area today going past the cricket club. Last season I seem to remember needing to get a tag for my bag after being searched, before I could take it in. Although obviously that wouldn't stop someone else from putting something in the bag between search and turnstile, so eas probably a bit pointless

Get searched every game going in the CFS and usually made to let the sniffer dog come round you as well.

They were searching everyone at the longside upper turnstile I went in today. The stewards were very courteous and polite and I had no issue with a quick pat down.

Strangely they were searching no one at the turnstile 10 yards away.

I remember being searched at Union Berlin and they found a wooden frog in my dads jacket and to this day none of us know why it was there.

I was searched before the Luton game going into the family stand, maybe if they didn't sell tickets to away fans it wouldn't be needed.

We got in the longside upper today with 2 backpacks without a steward in sight. Quite worrying really.

Yes, it added a lot of time for people getting in, resulting in many (who were there in plenty of time on a standard game) to miss the kick off.

Long queues getting onto Longside Upper. Search. One older guy didn't want to be searched. Held up the queue even more!

He was happy to be searched, but just wanted the "young lady" to do it (apparently).

I was searched before the previous home game. When I got in, there was a lad drinking out of a wine bottle, bold as brass.

True story.

We were searched going into the upper longside for the first time since it opened.
Used to get searched going in the CF but there's no need in the other stands.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding the clubs constant preaching and treating us like 6 year old extremely tiring

We get searches going into the CFS every game, they also ask if my 5 year ar old son is with me. I think it may be a club policy if youths going in without an adult?

The last game we attended my wife and I were stopped going down the entrance at the side of the cricket pitch. I’m 70 my wife’s 72, they wanted to search her small handbag, she opened it, they looked down in it as she moved her purse, tissues etc and said that fine. I said to the chap if you thought we were carrying a weapon or something that could do harm would we put it in my wife’s handbag. They didn’t search me. I’m sorry I’m all for safeguarding and security but that is just a nonsense.

We were searched going into the JMU before the Luton game but not today.

I think I saw the aftermath of the incident with the steward and the man with the bag. Walked past a bloke telling the stewards they had no legal right to search his bag.

I walked in today with a bag into the Longside upper and there wasn’t a steward anywhere in the vicinity. But a friend of mine had issues getting into the same stand but from the turnstiles at the other end of the stand.

Until some plank does something that makes you work that they’d do more to protect fans!

Pyro, drugs, alcohol are all things I’ve seen on this year.

People get bags etc. searched on entry and complain.

People die from terrorist backpack attack and complain about lack of searches..

We get searched and patted down at most away games and just expect it

It's pointless searching bags if people (like me today) are allowed in wearing a bulky coat with full pockets that aren't searched.

I think it might be due to pressure from above about the Premier League ban on Israeli and Palestinian flags.

I was gently searched on the way into the JHU. I assume it is pyrotechnics they are looking for.
