There certain places where you can go & you can avoid queuing & be seen straightaway.

It was only a couple of years ago when people local to me, were being asked to travel 25 miles to find an NHS dentist.

I've been told that my last dentist had a melt down and quit to become a train driver.......wtf.
He was a great bloke, and really cared. The practice has now been bought out by a conglomerate and the personal touch goes out the window. This is the 3rd local dentists that has gone this way, and you end up being a customer rather than a patient.
As someone with historical gum problems I find it very sad.

As I've said before on here, I quit providing 100 % NHS dentistry in Padiham, and dentistry altogether actually, when I realised that the NHS system itself was working against me, to do just that. I could write a book tbh.

Ive had a nightmare with the Dentist this last 12 months, one occasion resulted in my child being hospitalised in a really bad way due to them forgetting about her urgent surgery for almost 12 months despite multiple calls. You'd not believe it if I told the whole story but we went round in circles and nobody actually took on the role of booking the surgery despite 4 visits in 12 months to discuss the surgery.

I must say my dentist Ruth at Padiham Roads dentist is brilliant though, probably the only reason Ive not yet gone private.

Prison is a place that you may find alternative dentistry. In that someone may relieve you of your teeth!

Re dentists, I have been using Padiham dental practice for over 40 years, since AmbleClaret left it just hasn't been the same, the dentists are OK but tend to come and go don't really know you but more vitally are not Clarets so you cannot have a BFC natter whilst waiting for the anesthetic to kick in 😁.

I'm just glad to have a dentist now after 3 years of being on the waiting list.

Still, I'm sure people will still vote for this shitshow at the next GE.

Ive felt its gone down hill massively but luckily my usual dentist there is very good now.

I had one botched root canal that resulted in 3 dental appointments in 4 days in 3 countries as I was away working in Germany for a few days  Huge abscess, that made me resemble Jabba the Hutt, had someone given me a gun I'd have blown a hole through my mouth it was that painful.

Ive had a few injuries over the years but severe tooth ache is the worst pain Ive had, its relentless and most pain killers don't touch it

The situation would be chronically worse had not severe dental pain forced many to go private. When we moved 4 years ago, we lost access to our dentist( 40 miles away). With Covid it was not until 2 years after I needed dental work. Phoned a good twenty within 7 miles of where we live-all happy to put me on a waiting list, no one wanted to take me on as an NHS patient. I luckily found a private practise who saw me within days, and by using their dental plan, overall costs are not much greater than NHS, plus I believe some of the bigger treatments like crowns, inplants are not subsidised on the NHS.

Of course I’m not mixing you up with someone else. The corduroy’s you wear make it sound a bit muffled when you wax lyrically from your rear end. ;)

Seriously, I don't get it.
I'm sorry if the early attempt at rectal examinations in prison struck a nerve, as it were, but no offence was intended.
As for the corduroy trousers, I can honestly say I've never worn them even in the darkest days of 70s and 80s fashion although Joe Safkin, the head of Edge End, did threaten to throw me out if I persisted in wearing my loons, of which I was immensely proud.
They went with me to college at Bradford along with several tank tops.
I know...
Anyway, regarding dentists I have to say that the NHS surgery in the middle of Burton is first class.
No doubt, the government will screw that up given time.

I can agree with that; but if it gets bad enough and you're two weeks away from land, never mind a dentist, by using a combination of rum, a multitool, more rum, a swiss army knife, yet more rum, an electrial screwdriver and even more rum, you can with perseverance take a tooth out yourself. That said, I'd recommend a dentist, even a private one, for preference.

I once removed a tooth with a leatherman multi tool. Hurt like hell for a short while during and after and I bled like a pig, but worth it considering the previous 3 weeks of severe pain.

Maybe they will. Anyway, I’m resigned to there being a labour government next so we can all look forward to all these problems being sorted out in the next four years.

Or maybe we’ll just have to listen to them saying “we can’t do anything about it, and it’s the last governments fault” 🤣🤣🤣

They’re all the same. Doesn’t matter what colour the rosette, a politician is a professional bullshitter.

Remember the film “full metal jacket”?

Helicopter scene and the door gunner is saying “anyone who moves is a VC…. Anyone who DOESN’T move is a well disciplined VC”. 🤣🤣

My point?

Man suggests labour quite possibly won’t reverse the absolute cluster delivered over the last few years by a bunch of muppets, because they are also a bunch of muppets. He knows this because he’s seen this go full circle many times. He’s a Tory….

Man suggests the tories are a bunch of muppets who have screwed everyone over and made an absolute pigs ear of running the country. He’s a Tory trying a bit of reverse psychology in the hope that they will be re-elected.

Man realises he can’t reason with stupid…

Voted Tory once in my 58 years… ah well, “ya shag one sheep…”

I've had this problem for a number of years since moving away and coming back. It's almost impossible to find a good practice taking on and even harder if it's an NHS practice. Not sure on your exact location but King street dentist whalley and Park house Accrington both taking on.

No, but apparently a lot of people are traveling to the Ukraine for affordable dentistry. I’m not kidding. I read it in a couple of newspapers.
