RIP UpTheClarets

Post by Cleveleys_claret » Sun Feb 18, 2024 5:01 pm

This site has filled many hours of many days for years for me but I finally think its time for me to take a leave of absence.

The levels of negativity amaze me, everyone is suddenly a money man and know how worried Pace must be. Telling us Kompany the man who gave me the most enjoyable season in 35 years last year needs to go and doesnt know what we are doing. That we won't compete next season although we have about 40 players on our books who are all Championship standard so even if we lost 10 with no incomings we would have a young vibrant squad.

5 or 6 members have been allowed to run riot on here and ruin every single thread with the same rhetoric without any moderating. Topics should stay on topic.

I think many have taken your stance and left,it gets a little less busy each week with established posters dissapearing in their droves.

This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departure.

The thing you've got to remember about online public forums is that nobody owns the space and sometimes you have to be prepared to see things you'd rather not. As long as nobody is being abusive or breaking the law, no single poster gets to dictate how threads should run.

It's been a while since we've had a goodbye post, though. I hope typing that out has given you some closure or something.

We can’t just delete people’s posts because they’re negative and you don’t agree with them.

I disagree with a lot of that shite posted but if I deleted every view opposite to mine, I think more people would leave. Come to think of it… :-D

And how many times have you reported it and of those occasions how many times was nothing done about it?

The things he is pointing out aren't really reportable posts, he is questioning most thread being driven in a certain direction by a small number of posters.

How do you report that?

But if a small number are genuinely damaging the board then we need rid of them.

As much as I agree with the poster regarding the posters who spoil almost every thread with their "anti anything to do with burnley" views, this isn't Russia, and they are allowed their views and it's not down to the mods to remove them, that should be reserved for the abusive ones
All will be fine next season

The foe feature works well to
Mitigate this as well… just add them, and unless they’re quoted you won’t see the posts.

Absolutely this. Just click their name and on their profile add as foe.

There are a few that end up bickering in every thread and we know who they are, but it's tedious rather than abusive.

I would have thought it was to highlight how people being bell-ends can spoil the experience.

You're post helps prove that point.

Come on be fair. Sad old men with nothing in their lives? Get a grip, it’s a message board. A platform for people to air their views and concerns. Positive and of late negative. As long as it’s constructive what’s the problem?
We don’t want to go down the modern day route of if we don’t agree, cancel them do we?

Fully agree with the op. You’ve inspired me to do the same. One less ‘positive’ poster on here until at least the new season. I’ll be at Palace next weekend supporting the team but any support of the team on here is frowned on. Time for a break.

Oh and someone suggesting using the foe button doesn’t really help. You end up still seeing all their posts as others are replying to them. I think still seeing bumba’s post on being ‘glad’ one of our young players is out injured with a possible ACL has tipped it over the edge for me.

I can sympathise with how you feel, but if you give up the moaning ninnys win.
Debate means you often come up against people who disagree with you, it should be welcomed.
The rhetoric from some leaves a lot to be desired, but try looking at it, that the nastier they get, the more right you must be.
Keep the faith UTC
