I'd never go public with that amount. Every scrote in Colne/Nelson/Burnley will be trying to find out where they live now.

I think it depends how sensible you are and getting the right financial advice. I certainly wouldn't be going public, put it that way.

The couple who won £150 million in Largs, Scotland, years ago were getting begging letters from people around the world

They used to go through them and give money to some, not to others

If that had been me, if I’d gone public, I’d be binning all begging letters and donating to charities I know and have interacted with , places like the Hospice in Burnley for example

On a serious note though, I do remember an Asian chap from Blackburn winning £18 million, the first roll over. He was disowned by his community for gambling, ended up with a divorce after his binge drinking and now lays in an unmarked grave. So in retrospect, it transformed his life, but not for the better.

I do wish the Colne couple well in enjoying their new life though, and every success.

Assuming they have a nice little terrace or semi detached house somewhere in Colne, you’d imagine they’ll be moving out of that to somewhere more secluded and they could just pay someone to deal with the begging letters.

Plus you wouldn’t be seeing much of Janice from no. 17 on your old street when you’re off golfing in the Bahama’s or wherever it is they are going to be spending most of their time.

Too much money is that.

A million would do nicely.

When I won my £61m I never ever have told anyone. Led a peaceful life, as s result.

The biggest winner was 196 million and someone else won 184 million .. he has bought himself a new BMW X5 to put his golf clubs in apparently .. sounds like they are staying in colne .. it’s their money .just to add if I won 61 million I would not invest it in Burnley FC .. I’ve seen how VK spends money on the likes of Ramsey Trafford and Tresor

Give the same amount to each family member?
See your closest friends get a good amount?
Give some to charity?
Invest wisely or go absolutely nuts and save £2m in the bank for the interest?

Be interesting to see friends/family reaction to their handouts, if they don't think it's enough

Most lottery winners don't go public, but it used to be if you didn't, they never offered any of their support network.
They rely on people going public to sell the dream of ordinary people winning.
