You just know they'll get 4 points deducted on the second charge, making this whole thing a farce.

So, the second breach for Everton still to be decided and one looming for Forest too. Both we won't find out on until after the last game of the season has played, assuming they both appeal. Bizarre.

Always going to happen. The old “they are guilty, but not THAT guilty”.
If they had been deducted 6 points to start with it would have been reduced to 3. If it had been 20 it would have gone to around 10. They were always going to roughly halve the punishment as that is what they always do.
It is a joke of a system.

Now this has all be cleared up they can get on with Man City, Everton (again) & Forest.

They could deduct another 10 off Everton and 10 off Forest and I'd still bet my money on us finishing below them

4 points reduced to 2 on appeal? Whatever they do on appeal it will always be roughly halved.

Might be another six…. That way it “looks” consistent, but in actual fact, the second charge is only 2, thereby giving the PL a real chance of keeping Everton and their lovely new ground front and centre.

A joke. I hope Luton have grounds to sue if they go down by less than 4 points.

Everton should’ve been relegated, let alone have a few points deducted.

Still in with a big chance of survival, Forest are only 4 points in front and Luton have a game in hand. They play each other in a few weeks too.
If forest got only 2 points deducted it could be costly

I don't want to stay up on a points deduction anyway. It would be the most hollow of achievements.

Besides, I think this team needs another season in the Championship as it's clearly nowhere near PL ready. It'd be a tougher season for us if either one of Everton or Forest were to go down with us.

Been telling people for weeks a way will be found to get rid of Luton (in our interests sadly).

Surely though this strengthens our compensation argument now the appeal has left guilt and ‘some’ punishment? That could be key to the “project” remaining viable to have an expensive squad and bounce straight back.

So, in brief:

Season 1: Spend more than the rules allow to stay up at the expense of Club X, who are playing by the rules.
Season 2: again spend more than the rules allow, this time to purchase players from the club X (such as Dwight McNeil), at reduced rate as their players wish to stay in the tope tier.
Season 3: Upon club X's return to the division, utilise your squad (bolstered by years of financial rule breaking) to beat them home and away, gaining the six points required to negate the punishment from all previous rule breaking.

I give you the English Premier League - Where cheats prosper.

I think it won’t affect us at all as we won’t get 20 points this season .. but although Everton over spent which is agreed it wasn’t on players but on the ground that hasn’t actually helped them stay up

It's not really about us, the bigger picture is that cheating is allowed in this league. There's no deterrent whatsoever and that message is loud and clear. There was little left but the Premier league has today lost the last shred of integrity it might have claimed to have as a sporting competition.

That’s the end of the Premier League as a completion

Break any rules you like, if you’re rich enough it will be sorted

Not sure why you think that? Everton have been punished 6 points for breaking the rules.

They got 4 back as the appeal panel agreed that the original panel made legal failures by accusing Everton of 'misleading' the premier league. Thats hat they got 4 extra points for

Now 1/12 so our fate is sealed.

Couple of things. Neither make this any more easier to stomach, but:

1. There was a fair bit of commentary at the time that the initial penalty was deliberately inflated as the EPL fully expected Everton to challenge it and that there was a strong chance it’d be reduced on appeal. Essentially they went high to get an outcome that didn’t see Everton get away with it completely.

2. Everton have run a pretty successful media campaign to paint themselves sympathetically. A recent interview with Dyche on Radio 5 was the most recent example of this, with his media mates going out of their way to say how shocked they were at the scale of the initial penalty.

I’m sharing the above because it’s likely to be the way the next case against them (and probably Forest) goes too. Expect deductions, appeals and sympathetic media campaigns.

Do you think those 6 points will make a blind bit of difference to our league position?
We aren't getting relegated because of Everton, we're being relegated because of ourselves.
