VAR & the FA cup

3 matches on tonight.
2 will have VAR , one won't.
The cost of VAR at the 2 grounds will be Β£9251.00 + VAT
This is split 50 / 50 between the 2 clubs., so the away club pays a bigger percentage because they get less of the gate receipts.
Some of the smaller clubs playing away at PL grounds don't have a choice of no VAR or not.
PL clubs getting preferential treatment again ?

Google search shows 45% each after expenses 10% to the FA.

R*vers kick off delayed due to "problems with the turnstiles and crowd getting in."

Does that stand behind the goal hold more than 2,000?

Is the protest thing still happening?
They've said the problems are at the Newcastle turnstiles.

The protest idea came out after the draw was made, but it has been very quiet since.
Suppose we'll find out in just under half an hour.

I read the delay at Blackburn is due to an accident on the motorway, really hope no one is injured.

Seen about 10 tennis balls on the pitch on the BBC coverage

took 30 seconds to clear them up.

It was turnstiles - Blackburn tweeted that kick off had been delayed in order to allow as many supporters as possible to enter the ground.

Be interesting to see if Blackburn get fined for crowd disorder. Although it was pretty pathetic.

I thought the gate was split 3 ways so the away team doesnt pay more as suggested?

But they all play by the same rules, VAR or not
And it's the same for both teams playing against each other
I'm no fan of VAR. And I'd scrap it tomorrow
But as the point of VAR is to reduce errors, and increase fairness, then it would seem silly to not use it if it was available (presuming of course that VAR does what it is supposed to do)
Would you make the same argument for goal line technology?

no because goal line tech is not subjective. VAR is re-refereeing the game, they are 100% different ends of the scale and to add to that VAR is not reducing errors nor increasing fairness.

There was an incident in our Cup game the other year against MK Dons
Keogh got a red card that was reviewed by VAR and overturned. If we had played the game at MK Dons and the incident happened weβd have been playing against 10 men
Iβm not claiming the decision was correct or not, just that it should be the same βconditionsβ regardless of location

So is your argument against it that VAR doesn't make things better?

no (but it doesn't make things better). It means some games have 2 refs whilst others only have one, it's just unfair full stop. Let's say it's Burnley v Exeter and Mansfield v Northampton - two identical goals are scored and one gets ruled out at Burnley because the VAR finds a minuscule tug on a player and the Mansfield goal stands because it can't be re-checked. It just doesn't sit right with me that's all

But having VAR at Burnley has no bearing on the outcome of the Mansfield game whatsoever. They aren't losing out.
Another way of putting it is that with a different ref, there'd have had a different result. But we don't expect the same ref for every game.
They do, however, all follow the same rules. VAR included. Whether or not VAR makes things better or not is an entirely separate argument

That's far too hypothetical. You missed out the badge checking stage. We'd not have it ruled out if we were playing exeter. Change exeter to Everton and Mansfield to man united and then the example works perfectly
