Luton v City

I’m sorry but Luton are miles in front of us with very little additions, they kept their framework and ethos, then added 1-2 experienced players and with fight for the shirt, they are head and shoulders above us.

Are they winning?

Getting beat comfortably but they are playing their game, with conviction. If we did that I don’t think we would be as annoyed.

Is that why they are in the relegation zone with us

They play hit and run, whack it in the box football. Works well initially against teams that play fancier football. Similar to we had previously under Dyche. Doesn't mean they are better, means they've found a way to get an odd result.

They have kept their identity and are better placed points and gd than us. My point is if we had stuck with what we had and added experience I’m fairly sure we be offering more just like Luton are doing now. Do you have to try and create an argument in paper bag on every post?

If this were true, then why did they have 62% of the ball against us at Turf Moor?

Perhaps if you hadn't said that they were head and shoulders ahead of us, and miles in front of us, people wouldn't have felt the need to question you

Cotrect, but they are not head and shoulders ahead of us, or, miles in front of us, which was the point being debated

Luton will go down this season. They’ll run out of steam and have a bad spell which they haven’t really had yet.

Are you actually watching how they are playing tonight against city? Yes they are gritting best by 3 atm but they are keeping to their team and ethos and look way ahead of where we are at the moment as a team. If I am on my own I. That then fair enough, but for me the whole game play is way above what we are doing now.

What a lovely looking goal wasn't it?
Would have looked even better if the keeper had dived.

I really do understand this.
Every time I watch city I get bored of the possession based football (although in small waves they can be very entertaining).
Much prefer to watch Klopp style. It’s more in your face aggressive

It’s not that it’s working but I find Ange Postecoglou
Style exciting for Spurs.

You’ve got to admire Luton ,, kept the majority of their promotion winning side , couple of quality additions .. the only team that came up that could possibly stay up this season having possibly accumulated more points already than we will get

agree with this 100% BUT I'd watch De Bruyne and Phil Foden have a kick about in the street long before I'd watch Liverpool. Two incredible footballers

They are better than us and have better spirit than us.
Our current lot would not pull back two goals from 3-0 down at home - no chance. Last years lot might - they didn't know they were beaten... all little bits of nuances that you simply cannot quantify with data points.

For those with long memories ,didn’t Denis Law score all 6 goals for City against Luton, and the match was abandoned, and City won the next match 3-1?

City under Pep always seem to start to turn it on around this time of the year - twas the same when they turned Leipzig over 7-0 then dispatched of us the next game.
Come crunch time, the cream rises.

Luton have had a slight decent run, but they are poor. man city really are very good.
well done city, and hats off to Haaland.

People should really wait until full time to start these threads…
What is this obsession with Luton anyway? They’ll be going down the same as us and I’d be amazed if we didn’t finish above them next season.

No obsession - just respect of a team that was in L1 in 2020/21 putting up a respectable attempt of staying in the league whilst garnering a real ethos and identity.
Whatever happens for the remainder of this year and the next they've set themselves up for years to come by spending within their means and prioritising the long-term health of the club. It's very similar to our first promotions to the PL.
