Which he didn’t really answer.
Glad the first guy asking questions seemed to have a bit of backbone and ask a few questions that should have been asked before Christmas.
Hopefully he gives him more similar questions after this weekends mistakes.

Presume he means the players in squad with splinters in their backside.

Visibly embarrassed someone finally pulled him up on it.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
good interview, honest and open enough in my view. course he's not going to answer questions about specific players because the fans dont like them. would you? his job is to deflect stuff like that, that's part of being the boss. hope he gets the time to see it through next season. great bloke.

He's talking absolutely ******** as usual. He said Kompany was "Visibly embarrassed"Carlos the Great wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 8:58 pmLet’s be right /. That's just a lie, he literally sits there, blinks once, smiles and answers the question
The only thing that is embarrassing is people making shite up to fit their agenda. Criticize by all means but don't make stuff up ffs

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
Unfortunately VK and the team are in a catch 22 position at the moment.
Everything they do is scrutinised and criticised whenever a loose word or pass is made which leads into a downward spiral.
I really do hope he pulls off a few results sooner rather than later to ease the pressure off both himself and the team.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
The 'press' are as weak as water. When the question wasn't answered it should have been asked again, otherwise there's no point in asking it in the first place.StayingDown4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:50 pmWhich he didn’t really answer.

Seeing him squirm and having no real answer made the question worthwhile I think.
Proved to us all that he doesn’t have a good explanation for playing him other than Vincent’s own foolish pride.

but even if results don't pick up I can't think of anyone better to manage this squad next season.
Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
The needle returns to the start of the song and we all sing along as before...
VK ducked the question on Trafford. Ducked the question on the young inexperienced squad too... this is on him
But what can he say ? He knows he is backed though. No chance he gets sacked. A man that looks like he has been given the nod of security from Pace and the people that control Pace
We all have to suffer until the end of the season though right ? Just play things out cos he is the man to bring us back next year
What a **** show this is. We are going backwards as a club

Kompany gulps when asked about Trafford and O Shea, often a sign of fear, anxiety, an uncontrollable physiological reaction.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
Even now he can defend better than his team. Becoming ever so predictable and he is very clever at not facing the real issues
Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
I’d much rather our manager answer questions (particularly the Trafford one) like he did in that interview rather than get ultra defensive and arrogant like Klopp or Guardiola and snap back.
Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
He would be taken more seriously if he turned up at the presser wearing the spinning illuminated bow tie and the big flappy shoes.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
He talks a lot without saying anything but that's true of every pre-match press conference, Dyche did it too, they usually either just give vague fob-off soundbites or take the Klopp style arrogant know-it-all stance which is much worse.
It's to be expected that he's going to trot out the same answers about giving the team a chance and focusing on performances, what's more disappointing to me is that the press don't actually press for answers. Kompany's doing what every football manager does, not his fault none of the media are interested in more than surface answers and I wouldn't expect him to voluntarily start talking about any problems or second thoughts, that's more damaging than a stock answer.
The only thing he said that actually made me pause was his tangent about Moyes managing a team which "helped us win the Premier League". That's not happened, we haven't won it. Man City won it, I get that he spent most of his career there but I don't like that his reflex is "us" regarding City, rather than "When I was at Man City". Gives the impression his heart and mind are still there, rather than here, I'm sure I'll have people saying I'm micro-analysing and nitpicking over everything but it did stand out to me, because he never identified it as City, just took it for granted that everyone knew "we" and "us" meant Man City when he was there, not the club he's currently managing.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
Too be fair, it's an obvious sign of learning and progression.
When he first came in as manager, he was giving away everything. Far too open. A bit eager to befriend the press.
I for one am glad he's doing things on his own terms.

Re: Kompany press conference pre West Ham
Why do they bother with these press conferences, they’re a complete waste of time imo. I’m sure most Managers would prefer not having to do them.

No, if you are tired of listening, it seems like a sensible thing to do if it bothers you.

It's likely we won't have any of the older heads next season. I think we'll find out in the future that they had a bigger impact last season than anyone currently realises.
The likes of Jay, Barnes, Cork, Brownhill, JBG, Roberts etc made huge contributions to last season. Far greater than many of our fans are willing to admit. Yes we all loved Tella, Maatsen and THB, but they needed that experience next to them in order to thrive like they did.
I can't see anything positive going into next season. If we line up with this bunch of kids in the Championship we will fail miserably. We have no leaders.

Yes I agree ..your team VK is Burnley and you have guided them this season to bottom of the league .. so don’t try and cling on to Man City’s glories .. He would probably get a job at Man City but it wouldn’t be the managerspt_claret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 10:56 amHe talks a lot without saying anything but that's true of every pre-match press conference, Dyche did it too, they usually either just give vague fob-off soundbites or take the Klopp style arrogant know-it-all stance which is much worse.
