Was he injured??
Bizarre decision to take him off. Ruined the shape of the team and we had to endure the hopeless Brownhill who offers absolutely nill.

Brownhill will be sold to a Premier League team next season.

Hopefully we can trigger his extension then sell him. He’s not good enough for us anymore.

Certainly good enough for the Championship but not the PL.

Totally lacks consistency for the PL. At present he does not deserve to start

Any ideas on JBL?
He's played well last 2 games.

Shouldn't have been taken off. Madness! But VK does this all the time.

I’ve always been a Brownhill fan, save for his set pieces. But his form over the last 6 months has been woeful. He doesn’t deserve to start, and really looked like he was running through treacle today. Awful. Sell him? Don’t know. He was good last season but has he got it in his legs to go again in the Championship? Really doubtful.

Jbl should have had more game time this season. He looks like a younger JBG and the one who can combine defensive work rate with an offensive threat. We have overused Odobert slightly

Because VK and Pace see more profit in Odobert than JBL

Maybe. I mean it wouldnt be ideal to be relying on a loanee so i think its ight to prioritise the permanent player. But JBL seems to have a mixed skillset that none of the others have.

How much would he cost us to buy him?
Did a fee get mentioned?

A player coming back from a career threatening injury ‘may’ not be fit for 90, or even 60, minutes. Kompany will know.
From memory Brownhill made 3 clearances inside our own box, something I doubt JBL would offer. Thought it was the right decision to be pragmatic. 4 attackers versus a resurgent West Ham after a half time sub to boost midfield? Would have been madness.
(I’ve posted for 5 years that Brownhill isn’t the level needed for the EPL, but at times he has a purpose)

Are any of our squad good enough for the PL ?
Not based on this season
And that includes the manager

I thought brownhill was bought as back up for cork and Westwood and hopefully kick on to make the grade as a competent cm but that hasn't happened, to rely on him as a first choice in the pl is misguided at best

I’m not trying to blame Josh for our woeful season, there’s lots of factors, but not upgrading CM with a big, powerful CDM was our biggest recruitment error in summer imo.

I'm sure I heard a couple of million (but my memory is crap so someone feel free to correct me!)

If it's only 2m then he wouldn't be the worst buy for the championship.
He's not done enough to get bought for the Premier league mind.

..after left back and a goal scorer.

I have to disagree.
Firstly I think Charlie has been great this year. Our best and most consistent defender. He shows his experience every game and, while I didn’t watch yesterday I had a Quick Look through the ratings and he seemed highest again. I don’t think a more attacking LB would’ve improved us tbh and might’ve made us worse!
On the goalscoring front, obviously they’re always helpful but we had Lyle and have actually conceded 20 points after being ahead so I think we’ve had enough goalscoring ability, just not enough control of midfield or protection of defence. That to me is the biggest issue.

I really like JBL I think with a run of games he'd really step up and I think he likes it here. Isn't there an agreement to sign him permanently for relatively cheap?
Our priority is profit, Odobert needs to be in the window now because our summer money banker Koleosho is injured and we need to sell one in the summer

If Odobert is meant to be in the window, then please play him left wing. His last two games in the No 10 position have been his worst of the season

Bruun Larsen show a lot of determination and and his best to drive the team forward yesterday. He was sadly missed in the second half.

Excellent pass from him to put Cullen down the line for the fortunate second goal
He should have started the second half with Odobert going off
Another poor substitution from the manager
Given the amount of game time this season would have thought he is more likely to want to find another club next year
As will Zaroury and Benson
The excessive number of wingers will be whittled down this summer - trouble is some of them are better than those that may remain

Saw something online that quotes kompany saying they could see some cracks as half time approached which led to brownhill coming on, so I presume BL isn't injured

From turfcast page

VK on half-time subs yesterday: “We started seeing some cracks towards the end of the first-half.
“For our wide players the effort is really big, so Browny was always a good option, and we were winning 2-0, so bringing Browny on was always a good option.”
Hmmm......

Good option , really? Does he actually watch Brownhill play?
If that’s a direct quote he spends too much time looking at the laptop then

I think it was probably more down to west ham making changes which hugely improved their game, but the quote didn't look great given we were winning 2 nil!

Well we scored our 2nd and Berge could have had a 3rd in the 5 mins before half time so this was strange reasoning.

Let’s not pretend that our second goal didn’t come out of the blue. We had begun to lose control of the game some time before we scored a fortuitous second.

I thought we still looked comfortable, just with less possession
