The Austria trips were brilliant, all three of them. Frightening thought that the first of them was twenty years ago this year.

We were also there. Was brillaint in Salzburg, Beaky organised mini buses to get us to the ground, we stuck around Abtenau drinking whilst Nick the Greek and his team mates dined in the square (he was a gent) whilst a thunder storm came in! We also caught the opening game at Munich's stadium against West Ham

Me too. I went to the Genk match. Ended up with videos of me on social media in the main Square when the players walked past and in the ground at the front of the stand with a big stack of cups.
Hopefully we get another pre season like it

Hope we get a foreign team for a match at the Turf. Disappointed we didn't get a single home friendly last season.

I think they might be bedding a new pitch in, and some stand works, so i wouldn't be surprised to see no home games this pre-season either tbh

Yes good points, I think you will be correct there! I will have to hope for a return of the friendly away at Accrington then

I am 99.9% sure we are doing something in the USA but not necessarily the pre season tour with the first team. There’s a smaller tournament that was played last year which included a Wrexham side v USA Women’s.

There was a 'comp' with rapidz where the winner got to go to the Premier League fan fest so that makes me think that perhaps we aren't going to the US to play football this year - plus Villa, Liverpool, Arsenal, and United are all already going and have announced a few fixtures.

From a brand perspective it may be better to wait a season or two to showcase us live to the yanks as all we are going to get at the moment is thrashed 5-0 and then not be seen on television for a year.

Seen a few comments re ground works? Safe standing? Would perhaps galvanise the fan base a bit for next season?

There was some significant structural work on the North Stand (James Hargreaves) Lower, involving cranes last summer, so there was little chance of a home fixture during close season.

Hopefully announced earlier and better than the shambles that was last close season announcements

I went to Genk but may have done more if all announced together.

Agreed, really enjoyed Genk but I would probably have done both Portugal/Spain games instead had everything been announced in a timely fashion.

Did Genk (thanks again for sorting the bus) and did Betis but probably would’ve done Benfica too with more time and had a week in Portugal from Belgium.

About time they considered touring the South West I think.

Last time was when Ternent was in charge wasn’t it.

The short notice made it very difficult - and I'm sure with more time I'd have done the Portugal and Spain games as one trip.

Ah right I do remember a Burnley eleven playing Dawlish as I’ve still got a Dawlish T shirt, Dawlish now are no longer as they had financial problems and folded.

Burnley FC President, Stuart Hunt added his excitement for the Club’s involvement in the Tournament

Since when has he been the President??

It's a while ago now - I think it's shocking. That's a title that has always been used as a special recognition. When I first started going it was James Grimshaw who I think had previously been chairman. Then it was Doc Iven given his years with the club as club doctor and director and finally Jimmy McIlroy for the most obvious of reasons.

Then, all of a sudden, Stuart Hunt becomes president.

I think there's a disconnect between what we consider a "club president" vs President as a corporate position.

Good to see us being represented at something so high profile

It may come as no surprise that the blurb for the tour looks to be incorrect.

According to the club list, Hunt is “PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS” not “President” although why it needs to be such a grand title is anyone’s guess

Just US style Corporate titles, that's all. The UK equivalent would be some sort of director

It's defo a corporate thing, I got a job as a vice president, which isn't anywhere near the top job.

VP is a similar level to an associate director in a lot of places I think isn't it?

Yes, President in US corporate parlance = Director, so VP = associate director.

Burnley FC refer to him as the club president in their official match programme. I’d expect the football club to be far more likely to be correct than the Burnley Express. He’s also referred to as the president in this story on the club’s website.

As we know Jimmy Mc was the last person in the role and tbh I wasn’t aware anybody had taken that role since

I know some my say “it’s just a title” or “president is just an Americanisation of director”, but having somebody that’s only been involved in the club for 5mins listed as “President” is insulting to those in the role previously

I'm looking forward to TST. I'd never heard of it, but was listening to Lee Trundle on Undr the Cosh last Friday. He was talking about it as he plays for Wrexham in it.

It's an interesting concept as every game goes to extra time. If the leading team scores one more goal in ET then it's game over, but the losing team can keeping scoring until they've won. It stops teams from shutting up shop during normal time.

That has now been changed to president - as per club publication
