Arijanet Muric

Special mention for this legend - simply magnificent today.

Genuinely had it all to do - massive saves in key moments, brilliant distribution and even went to war at the end there receiving a few clatterings.

Could have easily downed tools after being cast aside like he had but to put that performance in today speaks volumes about his professionalism.

Superb.

What’s worrying is to most Burnley fans it’s been a glaring mistake not starting with Muric and I think nobody can argue after todays performance we are right .. it’s just so depressing that he has been sat on the bench all season .. not injured .. raring to start where he finished last season

Kompany has signed his own p45 today or should have done

Criminal what he's done to the club with his selections this season, today just showed us what we could have won as Jim Bowen used to put it

I'm in a weird spot after that, I'm expecting some people will say I'm never happy but, even as a pro Muric guy I dont think I wanted him to do THAT well. I wanted a good result and him to play well with no mistakes but I genuinely wasn't wanting (or expecting) a man of the match performance.

I think part of me thought maybe the people saying we'd have no more points with him were, while not right, right that the difference was exaggerated. After that I'm genuinely left absolutely gutted at what's gone on this season, it really does feel like we've thrown the season away to unnecessarily blood a young keeper before he's ready. The whole team still had all the hallmark problems of the season- inconsistent delivery, squandered finishing, loose possession, defensive capitulations, but he bailed us out a couple of times and showed how much faster we break with him. As complete a keeper performance as you see. Really hope everyone eases off on Trafford now, he's out of the firing line and can't see him returning soon.

Brilliant today, apart from that mix up first half, which on second look I was a little harsh on his positioning. His passing is right up there with Ederson for me.

Played very well. Commanding on crosses and a few smart saves, not to mention the goal line clearance, which would have pretty much summed up our season had it gone in.

But for a bit of balance, that wasn't the type of game we've seen all season

Brentford are on a bad run of form, particularly away from home and played the majority of the game with ten men. Muric was under little pressure as a result and had time to pick his passes.

Not detracting from his performance though and he should hold onto the shirt for the rest of the season.

He played well but it's one game and we were playing against 10 men for the most of it.
There were also two fouls given to him in similar situations to the Luton goal, where he perhaps should have been stronger. And of course they could have had a penalty had they not scored the goal as he had committed a foul.
Deserves to stay in for the moment, even if it is to create more positivity across the fan base but I'm really not convinced he will have the impact some are anticipating. I'd love to be wrong though.

I actually think it might be better. He's just so fast to move the ball at basically any range or area of the pitch. The biggest problem with his distribution isn't his distribution itself so much as teammates can't always keep up with him he's that quick at spotting things. Pirlo esque.

Nowhere near like the Luton incident at all.

Toney ran at Muric full pelt without even having eyes on the ball and the ball was literally going top bins ie Muric couldn't run and get momentum to collect it, vastly different scenarios.

The second incident was less like Luton than the first but if that was Trafford the reception on here looks completely different. Whether it's disallowed or not.

Great result.

As for Muric, a couple of good saves, a couple of positive actions to deal with corners, and much quicker distribution. All in all a good performance.

Negatives, Not sure why he went AWOL for the first half back pass which almost cost us our lead, and several glimpses of last seasons flapping when crosses are incoming.

I’m sure that JT haters won’t have seen what I saw.

It's the confidence he has when he is passing out the ball. I've yet to see him panic when he does have the ball. Almost gave me a heart attack last season a few times but he didn't bat an eyelid.

We were playing against a team who have been in a poor run of form with one man less on the pitch than us.
I'll enjoy the result but won't be using it as a stick to beat Trafford or Kompany with, nor build Muric up to be something I don't believe he is.

Because it didn't happen. He double punched clear or claimed literally every cross and the mistake was entirely on O'Shea passing at pace between his own posts without looking.

I have wanted Muric in but also really have wanted Trafford to turn the corner. There's literally nothing to fault Muric for today to the point I feel worse for Trafford afterwards and really hope people leave him be now.

No incidents of flapping and the back pass was his positioning in order to keep us ticking when playing out - Dara just isn't used to a keeper that takes up such a position and didn't look up before he passed it back. Fortunately it didn't cost us.

He's genuinely world class at it. I think he's absolutely mustard and why I've been so disappointed to see him on the bench this season.

I hand on heart think he's the best player in the squad with the highest ceiling.

That back pass was criminal, you're told from a very young age to never pass it back to the keeper between the goalposts.
