I was going to ask this on different thread to a particular person but thought it would be interesting to see what era everyone enjoyed the most ?

Early to mid sixties. When we were a top 6 club. Followed by 1973 to 1975. Then the Dyche years.

Really enjoyed the Jimmy Adamson period ,the Jimmy Mullen period and Coyle. Loved the best of yhe Dyche seasons and last season under VK.

Not the greatest quality of football that we played, but for me the atmosphere surrounding the Jimmy Mullen era will always stand out, as we made our way steadily back from the near-disaster of the mid to late Eighties.

Some amazing away games in particular especially
support-wise.

My answer has changed about 6 times thinking about this one...

The early 70's under Jimmy Adamson.. the promotion to the Championship season under Stan.. the promotion season under Coyle... 23 undefeated under SD, the incredible 1st season under VK..

Think overall it's probably the Sean Dyche era for a lot of highs mixed in with the inevitable lows.

I think the Adamson era has to be my favourite. Seeing so many of the FA youth cup winning side make it in League One was very satisfying and some of the football was quite wonderful.

Too young to have seen the best of early 60s but mid 60s, Morgan/Irvine/Lochead/Coates just pips 73-75 and SDs 17-18 side.

4th Div title - Div 2 playoff win
Coyle promotion
Dyche Europe
Last 20 months (I still have hope, and faith)

Really enjoyed the period from 1956 until around 1962 when I was a kid and collecting autographs before kick off outside the Bob Lord Stand of all the a Burnley players .
Lots of goals and moved at half time via the longside to stand behind the goals watching us attack
Wonderful memories and still have my autograph scrapbook .

I am 100% with you Vicar. Initially it was just home games with the reserves on alternate Saturdays. Then started to go to away games. Local at first then eventually all the games including the odd European adventure in 66. Too young to go to Reims and Hamburg away.
Sadly we have never managed to emulate our feat at Maine Riad in 1960

I like your thought process, I don’t know who the particular person is, nor do I want to, out of interest though, has the particular person posted their favourite era? I’m assuming that particular person or posters even don’t actually have one.

Hard one but probably Mullen for me.

Players like Steve Davis, John Deary and Adrian Randall were great to watch as a 9-11 year old and made me want to be a footballer.

Lots of great times.Watching us turn over Spurs with 2 great o gs from Roberts.Winning v Stockport at Wembley.Wades goal to put us up.
Back up with Sean at Charlton. All last season and some of this.Great players I've seen at the Turf over the last 60yrs.

1970 -75 - 7 to 12 years old - just a massive part of my life.

Moved away and just ticked along, odd game here and there.

Late 80/90s Living in Devon did a lot of away days and Mrs Bull really got into those away days. Culminating in the Wembley trip v Stockport.

The Coyle Era. Both my lads loving the buzz and again that Wembley experience of beating Shefford Utd to reach the Golden Egg.

Last season - possibly the best football I have ever watched us play.

Tough one . Jimmy Mullen era for 3 years was incredible , ternant for 2 years also really special. Coyle cup run and promotion also up there Dyche era and Europe too… but for football and a complete overhaul of a squad and a style and culture of football it has to be VK last season. It was absolutely mind blowing to see us pass teams to death and get promoted like we did.

My first full season was the Waddle season … great timing right …

My grandad was certain we were going to win the league and we didn’t score for about 10 games !

But that season holds a special place for me - especially with the last game of the season against Plymouth keeping me up all night before the game…

Only ever looked up from that point getting Stan in.

Walking up the Bob lord steps with my grandad those days to the 2 new stands a quarter full will never make me take where we are now for granted

1992-95

I was lucky to see Burnley play in the 4th, 3rd and 2nd division, in the first few years in which I supported the club. One title win, one play off final victory, one relegation…it was a good introduction to the club I love.

Coyle era for me, just.

I was 18, started going to all the away games and we were brilliant from nowhere. Loved the 08/09 season.

Although to be fair, in my time watching Burnley since 1996 there is very little room for complaint!

90s. My introduction to the clarets. Nothing beats the memories of Tina turner blaring out and van halen while players boot the ball out of the tunnel and do mad runs onto the pitch.

A few eras for me to consider

first few years in the early sixties when it was a bit special to be a Burnley fan.
1972-1975 under Adamson - great football which just didn't, sadly, last long enough to a large extent because of injuries and player sales.
1991/92 - finally out of the fourth division under Mullen - basic football but what an enjoyable season culminating in that night in York.
1999-2002 - promotion and two good seasons back at the second level under Stan
2008/09 - Coyle promotion and all the excitement that went with it
2013-2020 - the best years under Dyche. From the promotion in 2013/14 through to the second top half finish in 2019/20.
2022/23 - amazing season under Kompany.

Those are my candidates and after some consideration it has to be the Dyche era. I always hoped that I'd get to see us have a season in the Premier League, which we got with Coyle, but to get seven more under Dyche, to have two top half finishes in the Premier League, to get back into Europe was way, way, way beyond my wildest dreams.

Stan era, 99/00 season. Looked old enough to get a pint, but was young enough to get a 16-18 season ticket for 75 quid, and got on the Barrowford Clarets coach as a youth.

Weird one this as you’d think it would be the Dyche, Kompany and Coyle eras. Whilst these had individually unbelievable seasons, my ‘favourite era’ is actually, bizarrely, the period between 1995-2000.

My first game was in 1992, but I started going on weekly (and then getting a season ticket from 96 onwards) in 1995. There was something about that period that has always just been ace to me. I loved the kits, I loved so many of the players, I loved that we seemed to have an endless amount of players coming and going (and finding out via the LET A-Boards) and obviously I just loved falling in love with football and going on with my Dad.

Watching and loving players like Adie Randall, Kurt Nogan, Steve Davis, Marlon Beresford, Chris Brass, David Eyres, Gary Parkinson, Gerry Harrison, Peter Swan, Paul Smith, Andy Cooke, Damian Matthew (hey, he was good!), Paul Barnes, Paul Weller, Glen Little, Andy Payton trying their best for us amongst such dross made me appreciate 99/00 so much when it finally came together. It’s been pretty bloody spectacular since then.

The Coyle years broke some barriers, the cup run, promotion at Wembley, beating man United at home. I never thought I would see Burnley do those things, but I must admit I am still a bit bitter about how it ended.

Dyche broke barriers again though with qualifying for Europe, incredible.

1st: Jimmy Adamsons early/mid 70s side.
Player sales were the main ingredients that halted that side having a really run at the title. Some wonderfully talented individual players & a great team.
Jimmy Mullen dragging us out of the basement, aided & abetted by the the return of so many fans going home & away after the Orient chapter.
Stan getting us back & established in the 2nd tier.
SD establishing our top tier place on a laughable budget and even bringing back European footy.

Adapting Tony's list for my time.

1981/82 That Third division Championship was just fantastic, youth and experience.
1988 Oh to the get to Old Wembley and the Sherpa van, we lost, but what a day

1994 We won at Old Wembley, just wow

Might sound odd but looking back I enjoyed those times when you could walk onto an away end and pretty much recognise the same faces…. Crowd changes on the tannoy as Leighton James put it. There was a real camaraderie that went with being that bad. Though obviously I hope we never go anywhere near there as a club, ever again.

Jimmy Mullen’s rise was quite a ride.
Colye’s because it was so unexpected.
I liked the steel Sean brought on the rise.
Last season was probably the most relaxed I’ve ever felt watching Burnley.

I have no particular year, i enjoyed every season as a Claret as you have to have up and downs like everything else in life and be loyal but first game on the Turf was Chelsea in FA cup replay when we got beat 1.3 , first away game was PNE we won 1.4 early 70s not been on for 2 seasons as i moved abroad . But will always be a Claret till i die...

Couldn’t agree more! Going to matches with my dad…always calling into a sweet shop on Leyland Rd for a treat( don’t tell your sisters!) changing ends at half time, marveling at the skill of Jimmy Mac etc etc.

1973-74 is my favourite season a great side with a good FA cup run even though I don't think I'm fully over the semi final defeat.And I also enjoyed the period from 1979 to 83 it was when I started going to away games regularly and even being in the 3rd division for the first time in our history playing sides we hadn't played in my life somehow seemed a bit more exciting to me

Much the same for me, just the next 6 or so years after you - 1963 to 1968. Irvine and Lochhead at their best. My mate and I used to get the bus from Hassy to stand outside the ground to get autographs. Unfortunately no longer have my autograph book.

And the Fairs Cup matches as a bonus!

Enjoyed them all since the early 60s , if you had to pin me down , Jimmy Mullen era , who can forget Derby away or the Stockport.
But as they say in football " you are only as good as your last game "

Jimmy Mullen Division 4 - showed we could get out of doldrums
First part of Dyche era - got plenty of monkeys off our back and took some big scalps with great promotions
Last season - great football
Part of Stan era - doggedness and memorable players

Far too many memorable home matches. Best away : York City Division 4 and Wembley under Coyle.
