Looks like it’s Aaron Taylor-Johnson. What do we think?
He got the look but I’m not sure. Think there were better options.

Think he was great in bullet train. Was my choice after seeing that.

Re: 007
My opinion should be completely disregarded. When they selected Daniel Craig, my thoughts were “well they’ve cocked that up”.
Within 20 seconds of watching Casino Royale, I knew they’d got it right. He’s by far the best Bond.
Don’t know this new fella, I’ll do a google.

Claes Bang was very good in the BBC Dracula series on TV a little while back and I always thought he would make a good Bond - certainly has a bit of the classic Bond look about him..

Re: 007
Whoever it is they need to bring back the camp in the next ones, along with silly gadgets and villains hamming it up.
Oh and enough with the “rogue agent” nonsense. Let’s have Bond going out and actually doing a mission for MI6

Re: 007
As long as it's not a woman I'll give them a chance, because I was also in the camp thinking Craig would be bad, and worse thought Brosnan would be good. So what do I know?
Any of the other characters can be women in my view, Q would be fine as an example. But part of what makes Bond Bond is his male charisma. Well, and I guess Miss Moneypenny should not be played by a man either, because that would strike a wrong cord for me as well.
When it was written eons ago, it might have been sexist, but to me, the characters are who they are and I love them as is.
Not asking for agreement, just my 2 cents.

Re: 007
I expect Taylor-Johnson will be excellent, as long as the writers continue the dark brooding Bond (originally started by Dalton) but better realised by Craig.
His performance in Tenet showed he can be quite menacing and he was great in Bullet Train. Kraven the Hunter might make or break him, but hopefully all will be good with that.

I hope he gets a haircut, just doesn't really suit Bond to have longer hair like that IMO.
Reminds me of Matthew McConaughey

No, I dont think actors are allowed haircuts between roles. That's why Gary Oldman has had this in every role he's ever playedsuperdimitri wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 8:03 pmI hope he gets a haircut, just doesn't really suit Bond to have longer hair like that IMO.

Re: 007
If anybody has watched The Gentlemen on Netflix, Guy Ritchie’s new series, you will have seen Theo James’ performance. I personally think he’d make a great Bond.
Probably the right age at 39 as Daniel Craig was about 38 or 39 when he first played the role.

Re: 007
Good choice
He’s done enough to be recognised by the general film watchers but he’s not a huge film star
He’s young enough that he can commit to x amount of films/years as Bond
He’s proven he can do fight scenes well in Kick ass and Bullet Train
When he was first mentioned I thought he’d be a good choice
I still want a stand alone film about Lemon and Tangerine from Bullet Train though

Re: 007
I'd love to see a solid three-picture series set in the 1960s with a psychopathic James Bond. It'll be a great way to ride out this DEI, ESG ‘wokery’ fad that Hollywood is going through at the moment and have a lead character that doesn’t need to be written for - as Critical Drinker would say - The Message or Modern Audiences.
It'll be a creative way for him to use gadgets and be a throwback to classic Bond without making it cheesy.
Obviously, we are going to hear a lot of racket peddled out that Bond isn't a woman or Bond isn't Black for a few weeks now - it's just clickbait and faux outrage.

Re: 007
Barbara Broccoli gets it right. I trust her completely. Even Daniel Craig didn't think he would be right for the role, but she knew better!
He will be excellent, absolutely no doubt about it.

Re: 007
Bond actors are not typecast by being James Bond. I mean look at Pierce Brosnan, he went on to play Sam in Mama Mia. He even ‘sang’ with Meryl Streep. No one looks at him in that role and sees a fearsome undercover agent, do they?

Re: 007
Perhaps he should have been, I seen a trailer for a film of his called something Charlie on prime and it looked horrendous even more so with the weird accent it had him using.
Re: 007
As long aa they don’t re-write the sort of person the character is. He’s a womaniser who likes a Vodka Martini. Don’t change it because some soft arses get offended.

Re: 007
I loved how they started that way with Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall before the rot set in with the modded Aston in Spectre and then went full mental with the Nanobots in the IMO very poor Time to Die.
Get back to Jasoun Bourne style Bond who can beat the **** out of you with a book and a pencil case

He's good in The Gentlemen but I can't get the image of him with sh*t on his nose in The Inbetweeners movie out of my head.....Claretforever wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 8:33 pmIf anybody has watched The Gentlemen on Netflix, Guy Ritchie’s new series, you will have seen Theo James’ performance. Re: 007
Carrying on from this, I hope they have announced this 'offered' statement because the big news will hopefully be that Christopher Nolan is to direct. Aaron Taylor-Johnson worked with him on Tenet, and Nolan likes to work with 'his guys'. Nolan's value has skyrocketed after Oppenheimer, and he will demand big money. Still, I reckon Amazon will pay it ready for loads of (crap) spin-offs for Amazon Prime... called 'Moneypenny'' 'Blofeld' an' 'M.'claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 8:05 amI'd love to see a solid three-picture series set in the 1960s with a psychopathic James Bond. Re: 007
I’d have liked them to camp it up a bit , put some gadgets and British humour back , make Bond just a little chauvinist, glint in the eye gentlemen type , without actually offending the modern audience. While they’ll never portray the Fleming Bond as the original “ blunt instrument “ But be good to see some variant on the slightly woke Bourne-esque generic . action man .

Think these films have lost their way since Pierce Brosnan got involved. I hated Daniel Craig in them and stopped watching them. Others will disagree but I don’t generally like him in anything except Defiance in which he was very good.
