Been having those same issues for years now, so it’s become expected rather than unusual.1989_claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:05 amHad it confirmed that Castore are Burnley's kit manufacturer for next season so be warned of quality issues and late deliveries![]()
Yes it is Castore who did the wet look shirt and rather than own up that it was a production error they tried to market it as a new 'technical element' until they were called out for it.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:17 amAny truth in the rumour the home shirt will feature both claret and blue.
Is it Castore who do or did that Aston Villa wet look home shirt ?
Probably not knowing their track record.bigdavethemaddog wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:29 amwill the shirts be on sale before the season tickets![]()
I posted this on a thread last week but someone replied suggesting we'd signed a new deal with Umbro.1989_claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:05 amHad it confirmed that Castore are Burnley's kit manufacturer for next season so be warned of quality issues and late deliveries![]()
It was your post that made me think twice. I was told ages ago that it would be Castore and I'm sure I posted it on here at the time. But that article definitely suggests it's Umbro for another two seasons. I do think it is going to be Castore.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:55 amHere’s the link that said we’d signed up with Umbro until 2026:

According to the article linked, the Umbro deal was in 2021 after the ALK takeover.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:03 amI suppose the deal was done under the old regeme and ALK have negotiated a termination.
Sorry CT, hadn't seen that but was told yesterday it is Castore. I haven't seen the design yet thoughClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:51 amI posted this on a thread last week but someone replied suggesting we'd signed a new deal with Umbro.

I have no reason to doubt you at all, I was told some time ago that it was going to be Castore. No idea on colours or design though other than potentially one worrying potential for the third kit.1989_claret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:10 amSorry CT, hadn't seen that but was told yesterday it is Castore. Hmmmm, strange one then.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:06 amAccording to the article linked, the Umbro deal was in 2021 after the ALK takeover.
That could quite possibly be wrong and I’m sure all contract extensions have exit clauses.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:59 amIt was your post that made me think twice. That lists all the premier league teams Umbro has, except usNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:35 amCan’t say I understand all this but here’s details of the deal PremierLeagueClass is referring to:
https://castore.com/blogs/press/castore ... ts-licence
So basically more likely the shirts will say Umbro on them but Castore will be the partner?
Would explain the link.
South Shields wear the same colours as we do and have had some great looking kits over the years.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:47 amUmbro could/can be good (think that 79/80 shirt)
The training gear and GK shirt selections being stock for multiple clubs is a bit lame though isn't it? You'd think for a PL outfit all that stuff would be unique.
Shirts are obviously a main seller every year but I still think the club could do more with better non playing gear merch offerings for those of us that don't like to wear football shirts.
JJ Watt seems to have more of an idea in that department - see what plays out.
As for Castore? meh, hopefully they've improved on their material for the players shirts.
I'd love it if Kappa was still doing footy shirts - saw this concept (mind the old, horrific sponsor mind)
Clean
Nice - yeah, seems a bit strange that a non-league team have my thought into some of their designs than we've had... though can't complain on last seasons (even if it wasn't to my particular taste).wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:52 amSouth Shields wear the same colours as we do and have had some great looking kits over the years.
Umbro provide their kits and even though it’s similar to ours looks much better

Even when they had Puma at the same time as us, theirs were much better than ours
As for Kappa, much prefer Hummel to do them
They deserve to be compensating us for this years efforts. Dreadful. Not just us but Luton as well.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:50 amMaybe Umbro have cancelled the deal after losing money this season, with lack of sales?
Agree the training & GK gear being stock for multiple clubs is really small time. PL clubs should have their own designs.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:47 amUmbro could/can be good (think that 79/80 shirt)

You not a fan of a blue and white half / half 3rd kit ?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:14 amI have no reason to doubt you at all, I was told some time ago that it was going to be Castore. No idea on colours or design though other than potentially one worrying potential for the third kit.

you may have been thinking of this from the takeover thread last May - of course Thompson left (it is suspected it wasn't by choice) last August/September and joined 777 PartnersNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 10:17 amThat could quite possibly be wrong and I’m sure all contract extensions have exit clauses.
There seems to be enough people in the know saying it’s Castore now and I’m sure there was some link to Castore via an ex Exec so that would make sense?
Although Castore seem to have a bad reputation I’m all up for a change. I’m not a massive fan of Umbro.
Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 10:13 amI wouldn't be surprised if there are 3 or 4 more investors in ALK/VSL in that picture - I have been trying to find a picture of Antonio Davila Parra (he is a bit of a ghost online) for quite some time now so I cannot tell if he is there -hoping someone else has more info
The guy directly behind Alan Pace is the club COO Mark Thompson - he used to work for Castore so it will be interesting to see what happens with the next kit deal (summer of 2024 i think)
Oh god, out of the frying pan and in to the fire there then!Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:20 amyou may have been thinking of this from the takeover thread last May - of course Thompson left (it is suspected it wasn't by choice) last August/September and joined 777 Partners
Personally this is my all time favourite - super clean look - also a new Martin Dobson would be extremely welcomeNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:38 amThere’s an article online saying we’d signed a deal with Umbro until 2026?! Good and bad news if true.
Bad:
- From what I’ve seen Castore kits are quite plain and boring
- Quality issues reported although you’d expect they might’ve resolved them next year.
Good:
- I think they do some miles better/smart merchandise I might actually wear
- Umbro have been hit & miss - they deserve sacking for this years efforts though
- We won’t have templated GK kits and training wear that are exactly the same as loads of other local clubs
Yes, that’s a good kit.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:33 amPersonally this is my all time favourite - super clean look - also a new Martin Dobson would be extremely welcome

Says so here:claret2018 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:45 amAre Castore still part owned by the EG brothers? Too much of a Blackburn connection for my liking!
All the Castore kits/clothes I’ve seen have been awful. Proper bargain bin vibes. A poor-man’s Donnay.
You'd think, being a multi-billion pound industry and having 'professionals' agreeing to these contracts, that the Club have had assurances and are confident of the quality/lead times for delivery etc.
This explains everything thenaggi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 11:11 amUmbro don't manufacture their own stuff. The Umbro brand is owned by Iconix who own a variety of fashion brands (disappointed we didn't go with their other brand Pony rather than Umbro) and just does licensing and marketing for them.
The UK licence for Umbro is held by GL Dameck who do the actual production. https://www.gldgroup.com/about-us
GL Dameck have recently sub-licensed this to Castore

It's not really clear whether they will continue to be Umbro branded (I would imagine this will continue to be the case for their bigger deals like England Rugby and West Ham) or some may end up as Castore or even co-branded (seems unlikely).
He has left 777 Partners too - Now at Saracens Rugby
