This morning I saw the first swallow to arrive on our property, although not a bird person myself I was not expecting them to arrive so early in the year.

Remember the old proverbโฆโฆone swallow doesnโt make a Summer.
You have to cross your fingers and toes too and live in hope

One swallow does not a summer make.
If you saw 2 though, that's a different kettle of fish.
A couple of days ago the (very good) localish ice cream maker's van appeared in the shopping centre where it will be parked for 6 months or so.
I'm off into town shortly for some provisions and will pick up a rum n'raisin variety- spring is definitely established now.
I'm not casting any clouts just yet though

True, but it does make a decent Saturday night.

Judging by the hale stones and sleet we saw yesterday in Rossendale and Accrington, summer has indeed arrived.

Last night at tea time it was 4 degrees in Burnley.
Snow fell on Pendle for a short while and the gritters were out last night.
It's a Bit warmer today and fine.

It is summer when It's constantly above 10 degrees at 5 am when the missus gets up. Only then am I permitted to knock the timer off for the central heating.

Yep, that's true.
Good to see some new 'swallow friendly' barns going up in our area.
