RIP Lifelong Claret

Heard the sad news that Geoff Walker recently passed away. Geoff lived in Bury in the 70s before moving to Surrey and then retiring to Tiverton but still kept up his love affair with watching the Clarets. I think he was once part of the South West Clarets but may have banned from travelling with them! Could be occasionally spotted in foundation lounge. He was still making home games last season aged 86 travelling from Tiverton. If we’d not moved next door to Geoff as a little un, I don’t think I’d have been a Claret. RIP Geoff

Anybody who is a lifelong Claret is a top man or woman in my book RIP Geoff. We probably went to hundreds of games together and never met

He was a real character, hadn’t heard from him in years but my dad got a phone call off him the day before the play off final 1994, he had got a load of tickets in the Olympic Gallery with access to a bar next to the ground. I was at uni in Leicester but Geoff got my number and invited a few of us that already had tickets to meet up with them.

Brilliant fella. Treated being a Claret as a privilege and pleasure, unlike many who seem to treat it as being an unwanted obligation. RIP Geoff, a true Claret and gentleman.

Firstly, so sorry to hear of the passing of another Claret. I'd agree too with Stubsy's comment about it being a privilege and a pleasure. Maybe not always a pleasure but I always feel blessed that my dad bestowed it on me to be a Claret.
RIP Geoff.
