Absolutely the wrong decision not to start him.
Fantastic when he came on.
Fantastic when he came on.
Re: Taylor
I think he has a knock which was why he didn't start maybe? Said in the match thread he was immense when he came on.
Re: Taylor
And to think there was a poster who called him "tripe" and "finished" on the match thread.
Re: Taylor
He’s rubbish apparently, outstanding!

Up there with Barnes as one of my favourite players of recent times just for what he gives, not the best ability wise but gives his all every game

Yes, and if it was purely tactical, I said as much before the kick-off. But that wasn't a worse decision than the referee's decision for the penalty and second yellow - it was daft to say it was given how bad the referee was and how well we performed.

Re: Taylor
He was great, but Charlie, like the rest of the team, is hero one week, villain the next. Picking teams with hindsight would be brilliant.
He could start against Wolves and be rubbish, then this thread would be wasted. Consistency is what we need from all of our players, including Charlie.
That said Vitinho, who is our jack of all trades, is least effective at LB against a tricky overlapping winger. CT would have been my choice yesterday, but it's only an opinion, and it is fine margins.

You don't drop your only tried and trusted left back for an important game - very much doubt he was injured, as his performance showed
Yet another mind blowing wrong decision from the manager - but I'm getting used to them this season

He’s been a very good footballer for us over the years, one of the best left backs I have seen play for us. It was pretty evident his level dropped significantly in Dyche’s final season and I haven’t seen much evidence this season he’s close to his best.
I’m not sure saying “he’s our best left back” is much praise either, given he’s the only natural one we have. Consistently one of our lowest scoring players based on Opta stats.
He was really good Yesterday for 45 minutes though, hopefully with his BFC future on the line it brings out an extra desire for the run in.
Re: Taylor
It was a daft decision to drop Taylor yesterday and equally as daft to hang Vitinho out to dry at left back, when he’d been performing well previously at right wing.
Seemingly all to squeeze the ineffective Amdouni into the team again.

Changing full backs around had absolutely nothing to do with squeezing the ineffective Amdouni into the side
Amdouni is becoming the new Trafford but VK will remain stubborn again and keep playing him even though he is clearly struggling to have an impact on games

Why couldn’t he have left Taylor at left back, Vitinho right wing and Bruun Larsen wide left as it was against Brentford?
They all had decent games.
Re: Taylor
I really rate Taylor, some of his link play and crossing when he gets forward is really good as well.

Unlucky not to start, plus we are seeing the benefit of a settled defence and team so why change it from the Brentford game. Sadly I am convinced this was all done to accommodate VK's mate Amdouni last week.
Can live with Vitinho playing RM but not as a full back

It's all about semantics, and how we measure them as players. CT is a better LB but Vitinho brings something else, and contributed towards the first equaliser. VK obviously has his own yard stick, and while I would have started Charlie, you can't argue with the manager, he gets paid for it.

I’m a poster making a valid point, was Taylor alone in “dropping off” over SD’s final stretch? If you want to make outrageous rants about a player who is amongst the most solid performers in the squad you should expect to be called out… especially when you repeat the attacks ad neuseeam. I read the post but did not even register it was you that said it. It was the comment of a clown, so it was called out as such. If my post was outrageous then I would expect the moderators to call it out as such… they did not, because it was not.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 9:37 amVery nice of a moderator to post insults, really set the bar high.

I don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest Taylor has been below par at this level for a long while nor do I keep repeating it and driving it down peoples throats like some crazy agenda driven nonsense.

As a regular poster, I would expect you to realise people are well aware of your opinion regarding said player, without you spouting it out time and time again, despite the wealth of proof to the contrary. I also find it strange that you keep referring to me as a moderator… I have never moderated on the match day thread, others do that… non of whom saw fit to interfere with my post. there was a post or an interview I saw yesterday suggesting that Taylor has been carrying an injury to his foot which was the reason he didn't start. We are going to need every bit of his experience so hopefully he can shake it off.

Re: Taylor
Defensively he could have played for England. With the ball he runs down blind alleys too often and the lack of a usable right foot is shocking for any PL player and means he can only ever go down the outside.
Re: Taylor
If you could put a team together with a 'Charlie Taylor' in every position that team would finish mid table.
That's a compliment btw. but notwithstanding that it can't be hard to do, surely?

Re: Taylor
A bit dismayed that the knee week assumption is that Kompany left Taylor out from choice rather than because he might be carrying a knock and this is a 3 game week and we're trying to manage players' fitness. I'd have thought the latter was always the more likely answer.

Put it this way, if Taylor was a Kompany signing he'd play every single minute if available, you just feel he plays him begrudgingly.
I like Kompany but he's as stubborn as a mule.

He might not be Kompany’s choice for that position, but he gives his all and has done well for us for so many years now. I reckon we will sign his long term replacement this coming summer but I really hope we re-sign him too.

I would not argue with you, probably would have been when we got him; but now he cannot just tank around,he increasingly puts me in mind of Pieters. I feel more confident with him at full back, his downfall has always been lapses of concentration, with age that has improved (as you’d expect).boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 7:18 pmHe's been a decent enough performer for us.

Still think VK needs leaders and Taylor on form is the kind of player that sets the tone for the defence, I’d think the more VK sees of him on the field, like Barnes before him, he offers something you don’t find in the stats.

Re: Taylor
He's certainly stubborn. Most managers are. And clearly Taylor was not VK's ideally template full back.
But I think I'm right in saying Taylor has started every game for which he's been available since Forest away in August and after he was injured recently, he was brought straight back in when fit. So I don't think we should overdo the point.

Edit: Stopped being lazy and looked it up, Delcroix started v Arsenal with Taylor at left back. A decision equally as baffling as yesterday's. He just loves to tinker.
