Hardly played for months. Comes off the bench and puts a display full of class. So unlucky not to get the winner.
One for all the people on here who have made disrespectful comments about him all season

Played really well today. Muric went to him almost every time.

Consumate professional. I love his approach and attitude. Disappointed he didn't get that winner on the rebound. Sadly, not the player he was but never lets us down.

Just imagine the Jay we have now if he still had that terrifying turn of pace he possessed… he was robbed of hitting the heights of the game only through the bad bad luck of terrible injuries at crucial points of his career, the lad is and always has been quality.

So unlucky. The rebound just came at a really awkward height. Would have needed a hell of a finish.

Yep. It's a shame. His touch is the one thing that is better now than it ever was. Hes adapted his game really well to still be useful without any pace. Really clever player

Played well, good header and unlucky not to score from it but I’m not sure he needs to dive into the rebound.

Jay’s header was superb beat the keeper underside of bar , though even prime Jay would have been lucky to get that rebound

Played superbly. Doesn't have the legs any more and a couple of returns from team mates were a bit ambitious but he'll he held the ball and played off and came within inches of nicking a winner.
Classy player stull

Took him a while to get into the game and he was far from mobile closing down to say he was only for a short time.
Started linking up with short passing and rolled back the years.
Unlucky with the header.

I must have been watching a different game. He was a passenger for most of it and then fluffed his lines when it mattered.
Shouldn’t be anywhere near a Premier League squad.

Muric distribution is perfect for Jay Rod and I’m hoping Jay gets more game time .: he was really good today ..he needs be on last 20 minutes at least

The rebound was crying out for another header, but alas it wasn’t to be.
Lacks any real pace and sometimes he just looks bereft of ideas and that showed at times today especially when he ended up with the ball at his feet late on and was easily robbed from behind leaving us pressured again, but the way he found space for the header today was vintage Jay, so so unlucky not to score.
Certainly a better option in a scrap than Amdouni, despite his age related failings…

Which is what he does.
Just thinking about it in such limited game times he's had a couple of goals and 1 or 2 assists, 2 goals disallowed one very marginally, hit the bar today and got into positions for big chances v Wolves and Brighton but was unlucky with both.
He's actually quietly had an excellent season and done far more than people thought he was capable of. He just hasn't had the rewards for it.

Which is frustrating because they've been the obvious changes so many times. It's strange but it's almost like the fans have more experience of watching a team in this position than the manager.
It's like when we first came up and we all wanted a good attacking flowing team, it's taken years for us as fans to realise that's not really possible at this level. A lot of the time you just need experienced pros to dig in. Kompany has had to go on the same journey as we did under Coyle/Dyche.

Yeah frustrating is right, I don’t actually think brownhill half time sub was that bad against West Ham just strange when we were 2 up, it was the Delcroix one at 67 minutes going to 5 at the back which was the strange one.
Bournemouth at home to it wasn’t working for fofana, jay should have been given the chance then to

He did the 5 at the back one a few times. It's fine on paper but the psychology of it is what I hate. We lose all structure and pressure on the ball because everyone wants to sit deep and defend understandably.

Yep. It's not a problem we have solved yet. We are incapable of defending severe pressure. I include today in that, Sterling missed an absolute sitter.
We had the same problem against Brentford as well. It could hurt us badly, imagine being 1 0 up on the last day v Forest and having to defend the lead to stay up. I'm not sure we'd manage it but bringing on the experienced players is definitely a start.

I’d snap your hands to be 1-0 up against Forest last game of season having to defend a lead to stay up

Disappointed when he came on as I felt he is now passed it, and it showed in his lack of pace the first time the ball was pushed down the touch line. However after this his control and holding of the ball and laying it off were exeptional and he took huge pressure off the team. He made a big contribution and nearly scored a good goal

We have to use him correctly. It's no good hitting channel balls to him. It has to go to his feet or chest. Once that happens we can have runners off him.

Foster looked off the pace and Jay was excellent. Able to hold the ball up and bring others into the game. But my guess is Foster and Fofana start v Wolves

Foster and Fofana together for the rest of the season and we have an outside chance of staying up.

Possibly but my concern would be they are too similar. Combining either with Jay would free them up from being the main target from direct balls. They could then concentrate on running in behind.
I imagine defenders would dread someone with their profiles coming off the bench as an impact sub aswell. Their pace and power against a tired defence could cause mayhem

Play and first touch was top class and just what we needed. All the subs made a difference.
