I’d be the same. I’m a Burnley fan, not a football fan. Don’t feel any shame in it, especially if the criticism’s coming from the xG-merchants on social media who’ve never stood in an away end in their life.

Why would he need to ‘own up’? He’s just a normal fan gone out to support his team. Not everyone needs to have a favourite German 2nd division team or know about the next big thing in some regional French league.
Must seem mental to the permanently online that people go and watch their local side for entertainment rather than basing their whole personality on knowing the XG of Standard Liege’s last 6 games.

just for some balance, these guys werent just sticking a microphone in front of people.
i was in the park view watching, they asked dozens of people if they wanted to do it and explained what the questions would be. Most declined. this guy obviously agreed.

It wouldn’t be so bad to have a laugh in a closed circle of friends, but to expose this so widely makes it impossible to laugh anymore.
The guy may have learning difficulties, no one knows, but that does not make him a lesser fan than anyone of us.
In addition, he did no one any harm and also has friends and family.
What I am sure of is that he never gave any permission to share this video with everyone.

I couldn't even say which country some of Burnley's players come from. And I might recognise two or three of the opponents, but basically they're just coloured shirts.
