The dates probably only have meaning to a small number of people; but to Mark Inger who sadly passed last week, the first date is the last time he missed a home match up until yesterday. (Discounting the Covid games)

A quite amazing feat, over 50 years of football, somewhere in the region of 1250 games. Pre season friendlies, Anglo Scottish cup, Sherpa van trophy games. All the way from Division 1 to Division 4 and back up again. Had the same seat in the Longside lower since 1996.

I have seen him on crutches, in a wheelchair and yet he never missed, not only that he never left a game early.
Absolute dedication to the Claret cause.

For those that did know him, he’s from Shawforth ( in the Rossendale Valley) where he was the postie until retirement a couple of years ago.He regularly travelled to away games in the 80’s with Rossendale Clarets and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Burnley FC, which he was adept at testing us on, in the build up to a game. I am sure many of you will have had a chat with him whilst watching a game home or away over the years.

Really can’t believe he won’t be at the Turf ever again. Rest easy fella.

Always sad to hear of a passing Claret. Would like to see a picture of Mark because I’m sure I must have chatted to him on one of those trips to Maidstone, Scarborough, Exeter, and the rest.

RIP Mark Inger
