Will we be out-Dyched on Saturday?

Pretty sure SD will once again try to out-bully us in our own penalty area on Saturday, just like he did at home against us.
No slate against him, as he obviously will use all available tools to win the game. I still remember how we outmuscled Cardiff away with Vokes scoring our winner there.
At least we now have a confident Muric back in goal, but he’ll certainly need to impose himself even more in his box.
Also, we’ll need to defend set pieces far better than against Wolves.
Otherwise I actually think we can hurt them and spring a surprise.
Any suggestions on the strategy?

Everton are 1 of the 3 lowest scoring teams in the PL alongside us and have struggled to score more than 1 goal. If we are to get anything from tomorrow imperative that we score the opening goal. If we fall behind early you can probably stick the fork in, we’ll be done.

We need to attack from the off and defend in Evertons half. Not give away needless corners and play Benny wide right to create more chances.

I think Benson could play a big part tomorrow, if we were holding our own around 75 minutes then Benson could be the one that causes them problems, I hope so, besides ourselves the lad needs a confidence boost. Id love him to be the hero tomorrow.

Not giving away needless corners is something we've really not been good at.

Dyche knows how dreadful is our defending of set pieces and will play on that. That's my worry. Otherwise I think we can outplay them.

Probably, but it’s the one game I’ve really wanted to win this season after losing the other two against them

If we avoid stupid fouls and giving away silly corners, we can get a result, but I don't think we'll avoid doing that tbh. No early goals conceded - Everton will be expecting a win and the longer it goes without them scoring the longer the crowd will start getting on them.

Of course we will. Dyche made us the perfect team to play the likes of us. Get on top, put the pressure on, wait for the weak team to crack.
Then school them all day long.

Everton's bad run of form mainly is mainly a consequence of injuries to Gueye, Onana and Doucoure in addition to Calvert Lewin's lack of form.
Unfortunately, they are all back with a few games under their belt and DCL scored at the week-end.
A team that can go to Stamford Bridge, go down to ten men and get a point can do almost anything on its day but you would have to say all things being equal this will be a tough one.
If we can get an early goal and get them on the back foot who knows. The key to playing Everton is to stop Doucoure playing so this is a classic for a centre mid 3.

We will.
There will be the usual promising start, where we control things without being too threatening in the box, Everton will follow Dyches instructions and bide their time knowing full well we will fade and make mistakes that they will capitalise on.

If it's Grand Old Team they want everyone dropped and everyone sacked. Given half a chance they'd start handing out P45s to themselves. It's not exactly IQ central.
He is the top scorer and prior to his injury Everton were heading towards the top 10.
I think he has struggled since coming back but Doucoure makes the 4-5-1 work. I know some want to go 4-4-2 with Beto and DCL...but ho hum.
Then again I don't watch them so what do I know.

They will bully us - it's the Dyche way
They have height and strength all down the spine with Harrison and McNeil supplying from the wings
Corners and free kicks will see us concede I fear
And let's forget the experiment of Fofanna and Foster
Need five across midfield

he'll pick his tallest team, we need to try our best to limit their set pieces but I suspect it will be a fruitless trip for us sadly

You can bet your bottom dollar (or quid) we'll be out-Dyched Saturday. He'll be rubbing his hands in anticipation of exploiting our vulnerability to set pieces.

PL Dyche Burnley - incredibly at scoring and defending corners.
PL Kompany Burnley - awful at scoring and defending corners.
If we don't concede from a corner tomorrow I'm will gladly eat my hat. Dyche will have been running corner routines in 50% of this week's training you can guarantee it

They’ll try and bully us. They’ve already done it to us twice this season. We’re a young team with a lot less experience and know-how at this level.
It could be a recipe for disaster or, as others have said, if we stand up to them and frustrate them for a decent spell early on, who knows what could happen.

They scored from a corner (Onana) and a recycled cross following a corner (Tarkowski) when Muric was in goal in the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat. Muric’s a better all rounder than Trafford, but I’m not sure he removes the anxiety defending set pieces.

Big Muric fan here, but I'd back Trafford to save that header.
But we could have been behind by then.

Everton have failed to win in 22 at Goodison when conceding. Imperative that we get on the scoresheet this afternoon.

My thoughts on this game exactly. They're a big team. We could easily play very well but concede from a couple of set pieces.
Still looking forward to probably our last trip to Goodison. Play like we did against Wolves and we have a decent chance.

Yeah abusing McNeil worked well in the League Cup..... McNeil looked as shocked as many Burnley fans at the abuse he got. Right before he put a great cross straight on to Tarkys head, which duly found the back of the net.

Yes, that's the problem when you lose your self in your own grandiose ideology. One day a socialist and the next playing Al Dhakil at RB and Roberts at LB against some of the best attacking midfielders in the PL.
Ooooh lost myself there. Started on about Degsy and then went to VK - don't know how that happened.
Where was I ...ah yes. One day a socialist and the next spending thousands on taxis to deliver P45s to your comrades!

If one fixture was guaranteed to get Everton back to winning ways it's this one.
Likely to be amongst their easiest 3 points all season. At least we'll know we're definitely gone today even if it'll be a couple of weeks before confirmed mathematically.

The template is the one from Tuesday night with that intensity and energy- but the limiting factor is whether the players have the legs after last Saturday and Tuesday.
I note Delcroix was on the bench on Tuesday. If he's fit then I suspect there's a fair chance he starts because Taylor was clearly struggling one way or another on Tuesday.
I assume Assignon comes back in and Vitinho moves forward to right midfield, depending on whether Vitinho has recovered from two massive efforts. Likewise Berge and Cullen start barring fitness issues.
My assumption is that Odobert plays so it's really two from JBL, Foster and Fofana. Fofana had a shocker on Tuesday but he does add energy and works well without the ball. If Foster is fit enough (again after the games this week) then you'd think he'd play - but there is a world where he plays off the left flank (he's looked OK there and more comfortable than on the right).
As important as anything else is that we have options to get the ball into the front earlier than we could in the reverse game. Apart from defensive set plays badly our achilles heel was that we get sucked into playing in our own half and we feel into traps as a result.

I do laugh at these outright "ref conspiracies" supporters that every team have. Nobody is out to get us.
Weve created far, far more of our own problems this season that a officials have contributed to.
I PRAY we can defend set pieces well today because you can be your life that's what Everton has been training for all week.
