BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
Looks a good do. Some will complain it isn't in Burnley, but it needs to be remembered that it is a fundraising occasion for BFCITC and doing it in Manchester raises the maximum funds.

Funny thing is, the ones who would comment that seriously go awfully quiet when you suggest that they could organise such a do themselves in aid of BFCITC, should they wish.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 3:30 pmShould be at the Kierby and priced £2 per head with pie n peas thrown in
Its a big do, to raise funds. It really is a no brainer to do it where they do.
It shouldn't, imo be instead of a Player's awards evening, but maybe that's fallen by the wayside now in changing times. You can't really do an awards do before the last game of the season, and increasingly many of our players will want to be off abroad pretty much straight after the final whistle on the last day. Can't say i blame them tbh

Indeed Doug, if staying over, it's imperative to keep your door shut otherwise there may be some unwanted surveillance from the night porter.

Re: BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
Was never difficult to arrange player of the year evenings in previous years and the managers and players were fully supportive with only one exception. Last year for this charity do it was announced that this was the only way you could meet the players and manager at a cost of £200. Those kids who used to go to the Supporters Groups Player of the Year Evening now miss out, and that's before their season ticket prices have gone through the roof.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2024 3:34 pmFunny thing is, the ones who would comment that seriously go awfully quiet when you suggest that they could organise such a do themselves in aid of BFCITC, should they wish.

Post above refers to 'Player's Awards Evening' i.e. Awards Evening of Player
Re: BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
Sign of the times i'm afraid. The players and management seem to have no interest in taking time out of their busy schedules to build links with the town.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 3:15 pmWas never difficult to arrange player of the year evenings in previous years and the managers and players were fully supportive with only one exception. I was 18 at the time when I handed Paul Weller the online player of the year in 2001 iirc

Whilst unfortunately people at the rear of the JMc Lower are having to move, it's not to accommodate more hospitality. It's to accommodate corporate away fans instead of them sitting in the JH Upper.Rodleydave wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 9:25 pmThe People's Club... club and town inextricably linked... family club... consideration and regard for rank and file supporters... appreciation for club history... Re: BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
I wonder if the club could offer them the respective JHU seats instead at their current JML rates as a sweetener?
Sure not everyone would go for it but it might take the edge off
Re: BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
I think that is the case and for 2024/25 it would be at the same price that they would be paying in the JMc Lower but it is only for the next season and then they would have to pay the going ST rate.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 2:53 pmI wonder if the club could offer them the respective JHU seats instead at their current JML rates as a sweetener?

Hope that is tongue in cheek Pete! Even if true, i'd hope it would never officially come out. I know friends, sure you will know them to, who had watched Burnley everywhere since the 70's, who gave up when the first few rows were taken from JML a few years ago. To have that happen for corporate away fans would be a kick in the teeth

Re: BFCITC Dinner - 4 May 2024 @ Hilton MCR Deansgate
Leisure is right - this season they have been accommodating some of the Jimmy Mac corporate guests in the Longside upper during the match. That led to the problems, certainly at the Everton game. So, for next season, they have extended the seating in the Jimmy Mac lower to accommodate them. It's not for away fans per se but if away fans are in the hospitality in that stand then they will now be sat there.Loyalclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:34 pmHope that is tongue in cheek Pete! The last I heard there was a discussion to place them somewhere else but they wanted to inform those people directly involved first. That was some time ago.

It's something I'm still dealing with but, as yet, I have no update. Still trying to get them placed but the club made it absolutely clear that they were not wanted on the club's footprint so we had to look elsewhere.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:37 pmWhat happened to the clarets hero’s pictures in the end?

Crying shame. They are eroding one of the strongest 'football town' club in the world, by ignoring these events and moments.

We were told by the chairman that they would be going back up but it didn’t happen. Some considerable time later we were told by Russell Ball that they wouldn’t be going back up because Alan doesn’t like them.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:08 pmSorry Tony if this is going over old ground but have the hierarchy said why they don't want them on the club's footprint?

I can see it from the clubs point of view to make these things a bit more professional and upmarket. You can’t be a premier league team and having your players and staff turn up to the local dog and duck to sit with the great unwashed for an evening.

Up and until ALK’s takeover we’ve always felt part of a family club, unfortunately we don’t feel that anymore. We’ll continue to renew our s/t but somehow it’s just not the same.

And then he sends his mate Bobby out to explain it. Is there a chance of them being placed in the memorial garden Tony? That’s not on the club’s footprint but would mean Clarets could see them on a match day? Or perhaps Calico (?) or the council could accommodate on the railings opposite the Bob Lord Stand?

Anything with Burnley Football Club can be answered with a question…
Does it make money? No? Then we won't do it.

What a bunch of robdogs. Also, if you're charging 'upmarket' hotel or restaurant prices, then your wine list should be more imaginative than the local supermarket, even for the least expensive wines on the list.Lambo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 10:34 pmWent to an awards do at the Hilton, Deansgate last month…table service so ordered small bottle of beer and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (Turtle Bay) and the robbing bast***s charged me £68 including a £6 service charge for table service (the only service available)….Turtle Bay is £12.99 in Sainsbury’s I didn’t buy any more

Tony- you may have already thought of this, but have you approached the council, whether it be Burnley or Lancashire, and asked about incorporating the player boards along the upgraded town to turf route?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 5:39 pmIt's something I'm still dealing with but, as yet, I have no update.
