Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
I've managed to stay fairly level during this season, but that's just tipped me over. An absolutely terrible Everton team, and we gift wrapped 3 points with totally unforced errors when our lives depended on it.

Let's hope Everton stay up. Last thing we need is them in the Champ with us next time.
The worry is Forest come down and Luton stay up.
Either way i doubt we'll be anything better than play offs next season and i have my doubts about that.

So, so disappointing. Being so far off the mark, and so far away from teams who have had points deducted is embarrassing. Roll on next season.

No excuse for that
It’s so simple -
Play wingers on the wing
Play attackers centrally
Play Benson

Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
My only comment on the O’Shea red card is that it wasn’t as nasty a tackle as Tarkowski’s yellow or Andre Gomez yellow either. Apart from that, the ref had a good game

Hoping that Everton get more points deducted and Luton stay up. They've basically cheated and it is helping them this season, albeit they are still a shockingly poor team.
Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
As bad as we have been as a team, Muric lost us the match. Do we have a 3rd team goalkeeper

Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
They were chronic. Offered nothing and we've given them three. The Everton fans will be furious despite winning that's how bad they are. So frustrating.
Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
I can't blame Muric or O'Shea. When you actually watch us it's easier to name the players that don't give the ball away in ridiculous areas than the ones who do.
Cullen, Assignon, O'Shea, Muric, Taylor could all have cost us at points, O'Shea and Muric are just unlucky it's them that's made the crucial ones.
After a period of time you have to wonder if we are asking some people to play a style that doesn't suit them, and the most worrying thing is that we can't just keep going out and buying "better" players. We just need to use what we have to better effect.
We've absolutely stunk this season. Second half we started losing nearly every 50/50 and they kept winning it high and we didn't make any changes, just waited for a calamity to happen and then made some weird ones. A game we needed points in and he refuses to use Benson again.
Still don't know our best 11- looked pretty clear it wouldn't work based on the last game but we made the same mistakes. Sometimes it's horrible being a football fan, back to ground hog day again.

Only good thing today is that we never have to play at Goodson Park ever again. Ever since Will Irvine was violently assaulted there effectively ending his career I have despised Everton and Goodisin. Bring in the bulldozers

To be honest this might be to our benefit. Everton would surely be in firesale mode and possibly have a points deduction if they got relegated.

I mean what chance was he given? Weird you’d point out Amdouni after 5 minutes on the pitch but not Rodriguez or even Foster who had 95. Clear agenda against our most productive forward.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:56 pmDid no one tell them it was a must win game ? You're right Kr , Amdouni was awesome when he came on .

In a way I'm happy to be back in the championship with our derby games etc. plus a more positive atmosphere wether on the Turf or on here or in the pub.

Was always going to be hard for us to score against a Dyche team to be honest. I thought we competed well everywhere else on the pitch and it wasn’t men against boys like it was last time. Nether keeper had much to do and we looked the better side. Just didn’t have the composure up top.
Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
I love the Championship. Just having no VAR and big club bias makes it more enjoyable for me. Just worrying how much debt we now have.

Re: Toffees vs Clarets Match Thread
What's galling is we're 6 points behind Luton and 15 goals worse. We were what . . 20.points better last season? That's fairly unforgiveable. Moneyball hasn't worked out.

I don't even think it's a lack of fight or desire. I think it's a pure lack of pragmatism in key moments. A silly foul, a hospital pass, trying to be too cute in our own third etc. I can't say I see a lack of effort in anyone

He wasn’t sent off for the tackle it was for DGSO, as McNeil would have been in on goal alone.Rick_Muller wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 4:59 pmMy only comment on the O’Shea red card is that it wasn’t as nasty a tackle as Tarkowski’s yellow or Andre Gomez yellow either. Too much passing around opposition box ( at least its not at the back now) trying to walk it in the net. Just bloody shoot more.willsclarets wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:16 pmI don't even think it's a lack of fight or desire. I think it's a pure lack of pragmatism in key moments. Last 6 games and we are experimenting with foster on the right hahaha criminal decision making.
Nothing against fofana but he’s not here next season, get foster back in his natural position and hopefully scoring some goals to go into next season with

Again I haven’t ever posted that Trafford lost us the game apart from his decision making in 94th minute at home to Luton when he should have stayed on his line, however it was a foulkentonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:36 pmAnd that situation never happened when Trafford was hung out to dry for losing us games?

Had assignon stayed on against Chelsea and no penalty given, that doesn’t mean we would have beaten Chelsea, we could have easily lost the game 3-0 11 v 11

This is a fair point. But it's worth taking into consideration that the Luton squad has been about 3 seasons in it's development.cockneyclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:12 pmLuton just have a better togetherness and fight in them.

We got promoted largely on the strength of loan signings.
I'm not sure we could buy a decent PL squad on VK's budget.

Surely, one of the key arguments put forward for Muric over Trafford was his superior distribution setting up the attacking play and creating chances for our strikers.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:05 pmMuric didn’t lose us the match, we had one shot on target in 97 minutes
