Re: Obafemi
I hope not Ian,stick with LF he's struggling at the moment but there is a great striker in there.IanMcL wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 10:34 amReceiving love at Millwall. Move possible or is he our 'proper striker' in the Championship?

I'd let him go if we can get some money back.

Re: Obafemi
Surely he should be given a chance in the Championship.
If it's not working out, flog him then.
(Course, if we see he's a dud, then others clubs will have
got wise to his deficiencies as well.)
But I think he should be given the chance to do his stuff,
if he can.
Re: Obafemi
Also saw some other comments about his total lack of fitness when he arrived which tallies up with what we are seeing from a lot of our team at the momentSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 11:07 am"Michael owed me that goal today – I’ll leave it at that, for why" - interesting quote from their manager.

Re: Obafemi
Lots of potential problems upcoming for next season but the 'strikers department' is a major one. The current crop are way off acceptable and the ones out on loan don't fill me with confidence either.
Re: Obafemi
Our fitness as a team currently seems atrocious, we have a decent first 45 then look completely shot in the second half every game

Yep it's frustrating, there's no excuse for lacking fitness.
Ekdal going off with cramp after an hour was incredibly pathetic. Maybe they should be playing in u23 games to build fitness...

I've always liked that Jake Cooper. Limited but old school footballer who does his best.
(not saying we should be interested, just mentioning it)

Re: Obafemi
It would seem that way yet the 2 games where we had 10 men (Villa/Chelsea) we seemed to have energy for days and should have got something at villa
Everton doesn't count
Re: Obafemi
Another poor buy who VK clearly didn't fancy as his lack of game time and loan suggests
Get any money we can for him

Re: Obafemi
Not sure he's a poor buy in financial terms.
Difficult to judge his potential value to the team because of his serious injury which required surgery and a long lay off, but you don't get much for about 3 million nowadays, and a few decent displays in the Championship and he'll be worth more than that.
Re: Obafemi
I'm just glad we didn't sign him in August 2022 when I dread to think how much more money would have been chucked down the pan.

Oh heck, Bill.
Re: Obafemi
Not for us, let's see if we can make a profit on him.
Re: Obafemi
Crikey. I didn't realise it was that much. I had £9m in my head but it was a while ago so could be wrong.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:36 pmFully agree. They were wanting about 12 million as I recall.
I dread to think how much money we'd have lost on him had we paid around those figures.

Re: Obafemi
We were never going to pay that.
We loaned him, I believe, knowing he had fitness issues. Sounds like he's just about got himself fully match-fit now with Millwall.
Re: Obafemi
He only had fitness issues because he barely featured for Swansea after being denied a move to us in the summer.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 7:59 pmWe were never going to pay that.

Did we sign him for a reported £12million or not?

I'd rather have Obafemi than Jay Rod next season, as long as he can get fit.

Actually it was a tongue in cheek comment...but nevermind eh.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 1:10 pmAre you suggesting that Jay-Rod does look fit... his legs have been gone for the last two seasons.
