Emiliano Martinez

Mentioned on here last night but this prick's antics warrant action taken against him.

Players are rightly booked for "execessive celebrating".

It's bad enough when your team has conceded to then have clowns giving it large in front of you. Whilst I do not condone any violence committed by fans, I can understand people getting incensed by such conduct.

Players who deliberately provoke their opponents' supporters should be booked. Martinez deliberately played on this rule, of which I was unaware, whereby a player cannot be sent off during a penalty shoot. The rule was introduced four years ago. Another clueless, pointless exercise in rule-changing by the "governing" bodies.

'The rule change stated: "Yellow card for all players are not carried forward into a penalty shootout.

"If a player receives a yellow card in both the match and the penalty shootout, this should be recorded as two yellow cards, not as a red card."

The goalkeeper will be banned from Aston Villa’s next European game, however, which is against Olympiacos in the semi-final first leg.

Martinez, who was also booked in the first leg against Lille, has been given a one-match suspension from Uefa. '

He did this against the Dutch and the French in the World Cup.

Is he not guilty of bringing the game into disrepute?

He’s incredibly annoying but fans are hardly shy of giving abuse out in the first place.

I honestly thought he was going to provoke a riot behind that goal or have some knobhead run onto the pitch and go for him

Okay, Bordeauxclaret, but are we not allowed to boo players?

That's existed for as long as I can remember and I'm 62.

God, I lived through the Auschwitz Song, Munich Song etc etc period, bananas thrown at black players. Thankfully that's gone. Yes, there are instances of racism, antisemitism etc and they're clamped down on but if fans can't boo or whistle (in Europe) then we might as well call it a day.

Fans can and do boo players. They do plenty more as well.
I’m not sure we need to pearl clutching when players give it back.

Whataboutery.

Fans dish plenty out…. Considerably more than players.

If he’s deliberately done it, well done him for knowing the ridiculous rules.

So Martinez is banned for the first leg at Villa Park but free to wind up the Olimpiakos mob on their home turf in Piraeus, that could end up an interesting evening!

If Ashley Barnes was a keeper 😅

The yellow card during the shootout was complete nonsense though, he was gesturing to the ball boy for a ball so his team mate could take the penalty and wasn’t stood around waiting.

Fair enough.

I'll contact Villa and ask him to wind up fans at every away match until somebody comes on and attacks him.

Fans need to learn to take it as well as dish it out. He’s a character, great keeper too.

Aye I'm sure a 6'5", 15 stone professional athlete from Argentina is worried about some scrawny little scrote steaming on after 8 pints.

I don't recall the outrage when Barnes was at it, or when Trippier was doing the chicken dance at Ewood.

Fans need to learn to take it if they give it out.
