2-0 to BFC at 1/2 time
About 1500 in the BL stand ... not a bad turnout

I went back to the pub and sat with a few blokes who have granddaughters that play, they don’t watch and simply can’t accept it, dig after dig and sly comments.
It’s sad but funny at the same time.
I love watching my daughter and sat on the turf today, I totally understand that when you’ve no “skin in the game” it’s not like watching Burnley and the standard looks poor, but once you grow up a bit and see it as a game, you realise you can enjoy it and be proud of them

2,068 is a great turnout - and is more than what some League 2 sides get at home!
I used to be a bit of a bellend with all this and still hold some opinions (pitch/goals should be smaller etc) but at the end of the day, if a team is representing Burnley - man, woman, child, dog, intergalactic space lizard then they have my support and best wishes.

My u14 team was playing at Nelson & Colne College this lunchtime and the game that was on before hand was the Burnley girls team
They played some really good stuff and socthem
Score 2 well worked goals (not sure what the final result was but think they won by the reactions at the end)

The finance involved in developing hundreds or perhaps thousands of smaller pitches with smaller goals makes it a non-starter. They will have to continue sharing.

I don't think this is much of an obstacle at all, just think it'd really improve the spectacle and make it more football focused, less about the athleticism.

Why is it not an obstacle? I would have thought that having to erect the goalposts before every game would be a definite obstacle. Unless there are loads of park pitches getting no use that could be converted from man size to woman size? What do you have in mind?

Goalposts on wheels, placed infront of the existing goalposts - with the pitch being condensed it can easily fit inside the existing pitch...
Or one or two purpose built pitches.
There's always solutions but this is deflecting from the thread.
Good job ladies.

Be fine at the higher level but realistically at the lower level they aren't going to be converting thousands of men's pitches (and imagine the wailing and nashing of teeth if they did).

It's a shame they've timed it each season so it's just after they've missed any chance of winning the league.
I noticed a load of Arsenal fans around yesterday which I thought was strange as they were playing away on Saturday. Realised it was another women's game at the Emirates, bit of a change though in that it wasn't a local derby or top of the table game. They still had 40k+ on though.

Wasn’t able to make the game yesterday as my match crashed with it, although would’ve struggled having been out all day yesterday.
Hope to see more of the womens team at Turf Moor and the proceeds put towards the development of the team.
2nd is a great result given they were up against a heavily invested Newcastle side. Hopefully they can continue to strengthen and go up next year. I imagine they’ll be pretty competitive in the Championship.

When U13’s kids are being asked to play on full sized pitches/goals every week across the country I think possibility that the facilities for adult women could be created nationwide is very slim.

There you go - kill two birds with one stone.
Not to mention that even the adult pitches that are up and down the country on training complexes/recs/whatever aren't the same size as the pro women play on.
I can also remember moving up to adult pictures as a 10/11 year old and thinking how ginormous the pitch and nets felt!

They are - and it’s not ideal for juniors at all. My point wasn’t that there shouldn’t be more intermediate pitches, just that when that infrastructure has been needed for decades and hasn’t been provided I’m not sure it will be now.
Although I personally think the women’s game should be played on full sized pitches.

I don’t get the viewpoint of some;
‘I support BFC men not the women’
For me, that’s so backwards, and borders on view points that in my opinion should be left behind us!
The same group then moan that there’s not enough information about the junior teams…
My daughter needs and wants representation of her passions the same as her brothers have!
If I support BFC I support ALL those who represent the club.

My 3 Grandaughters all play football to a reasonable level over in Guisborough ... School and County level ...
Eldest Grandaughter plays Lacrosse at a very high level ... She is one of Englands Goal keepers and has been involved in the last 4 big Tournaments that England Women have won.
I don't get this thing some on here have against women in sport.
I enjoyed yesterday for what it was, and I am looking forward to seeing them on The Turf on the 12th of May (can't make the 5th ast have a prior engagement)
