How high does it rank in football achievements ?
Got to be pretty high, if not the greatest ever.
Won Bundesliga already.
Playing a team from the German 2nd division in the German cup final.
In the semis of the Europa league and favourites to win it.

Don't pay much attention to the Bundesliga but they seem to have come from nowhere.
Noticed they scored the equaliser in the 97th minute today to preserve the unbeaten record.
Fantastic achievement if they do it though it probably won't get that much credit due to the perception of the Europa league in comparison to the Champions league.

Aye, but it’s not as good as Pep taking Man City, sprinkling a billion on em (against financial fair play rules) and winning the treble six years later, is it?

Fair play to Alonso, clearly a coach who knows his stuff- an incredible season so far. Taking Tella from the Championship, Xakha from Arsenal and turning them into Champions, Cup Finalists, and Euro Semi Finalists. No wonder he is sought after.

Reminiscent of how people were talking in March last year about our own manager….

Germany will probably get a 5th. Champions League place instead of England.
How strong is the Bundesliga compared to the Premier League ?

Alonso winning the Bundesliga has already outdone Kompany last season to be fair.
I'm not sure there's an equivalent if he pulls off the unbeaten treble. It'd be proper football manager stuff. Closest I can think is Clough's back to back European Cups with Forest.

I'm off to Eintracht in a couple of weeks when they play Leverkusen. Hoping for a Frankfurt win, but can't see Bayer being on the beach just yet with the Pokal and the Europa to concentrate on.

Leverkusen score in the 98th min and set a new European record of most games unbeaten ever !! 49 games wow
Won the league
In the Europa league final
In the German cup final
If they win every game and win the treble I don’t care it’s got to be the best season of any team anywhere ever ?? Probably get overlooked because it’s not the Champions League but it shouldn’t do.

I’d still put Leicester winning the PL well up there. They were one of the favourites for relegation.

They're playing games trying not to lose, instead of trying to win, and it's making them a poorer team.
I hope they do it, but do it in style.

They were holding a 2-0 lead last night from the first leg, they’re hardly going to be all out attacking. They won 5-1 in the previous game!

I think that Tella bloke has something about him. Divine inspiration for his last 2 seasons.

You know you're either lucky or damn good when your right-back cuts in and hammers in the 97th minute equaliser with his left foot.

For me this is the greatest achievement in modern football. I think because of their success in the subsequent seasons, until relegation, people have forgotten that they only stayed up because of a miracle recovery the season before.
How few people will know the role Matty Taylor had to play in it!

They've won 40 of the 49 games in their unbeaten run. I watched their game last night as well as they were attacking for the majority of the game, should have won it comfortably.

They may have won 40 out of 49, but they've equalised deep in injury time in about 4 of the last 6 games.
I'm glad they have, but do think it's symptomatic of wanting not to lose, that leaves them chasing games.

Just because they’re not scoring until late doesn’t mean they’re not trying. They had 32 shots last night, 13 on target which in a cup semi final second leg where they were already 2-0 up is highly impressive.

I know fans often do this to commemorate their teams success, but it’s unusual for it to be official from the club

They've scored 12 injury time goals out of (by my quick addition) 136. That's a fraction less than 9%. How much of the game is injury time nowadays? I'll guess at 3 minutes first half, 7 second half, so second half injury time is 7% of the match.
So the number of injury time goals is nothing special. It's only what would be expected.

Tella should be looking at an England call up for sure. Had Southampton not loaned him to us they’d not have gone down. Had they kept him they might have got promoted. For whatever reason the coaches never rated him down there.

Not sure Nigeria will be too happy if he gets an England call up

He’s locked down for Nigeria now - played a World Cup qualifier for them last year

Well I must admit, I don’t really follow African football. Good for him though. Englands loss.

One game to go, home Augsburg. Won yesterday 0-5 away at Bochum. Tella played and won a penalty.

2-0 up at home after 25 mins in the last game and Augsburg can't get a kick. I would imagine there have not been many unbeaten top level seasons in the history of football. Tella on the bench again
