Can I ask *why* you're having these bones chiselled away? Why not just leave them?

Obviously no need to answer if you don't want to. I'm asking because I have the same inside my lower jaw.

They nearly meet in the middle. Also I can get food trapped between them and my gum line.
Recently I visited the dental Hygienist and he managed to cut the skin of one which then had sharp bone sticking through. I ended up having to break it away with my finger nails. It was painful, not the bone but the broken skin and the sharp points on my tongue.
They are also causing obstruction when talking.

Well, there're gone. Still on the ward and a bit numb, but all seems fine. I don't know what it's going to be like when the pain kicks in though. Plenty of soup prepared, apparently 10 days of no "hard" food. Guinness it is then!

I thought mine were from being punched on both sides back in the early 20s. They could be, but the experts really don't know what causes them. The naming comes from the lower jaw being named the Mandible and the bone growth is taken from the Bull horns. Tori being plural, ie both jaws. If was just one side it's Taurus.
If it's on the upper jaw then it's Palantular

Bodies are weird. I found out fairly recently that what I thouught was my inner ankle going out of line was actually a bone spur that has grown on the inner ankle bone - apparently from what the doctor said, somehting must have hit or clipped the bone at some point so it grew a spur...

Mandible being the jaw bone, so makes sense. Try "cold stuff" (medical term lol) and probably best with soft food / liquids for a bit.

That's right. The Tori bit is a description of the shape of the bone growth. It resembles a bulls horn.
