Dreadful isn’t it? So few games on a Saturday afternoon and for those of us who travel we will have the usual awkward kick off times.

Its the sort of info I needed before committing to renewing the season ticket. If there are fewer weekend games (at a reasonable time of day!) then I may have not bothered renewing

There is no need at all to have so many games on TV, it is time football cared far less than the fan sat at home than those that go.

I hadn't realised that, perhaps things aren't as bad as I thought.
My main point still stands, though. The paying, match-going fan is becoming a bit of a nuisance to some clubs' owners, who would rather have their millions coming in through TV rights.

Absolutely the case, those going through the turnstiles are not considered.

See how this goes with seemingly lots of 12.30 Sat tv games.

Next time perhaps make them 3.00 Sat tv games and scrap that banning rule.

Better for fans who go to the games and maybe tv watchers too.

3 pm kick off in uk is ideal for US tv ( 10am ET 7 am PT) by 12.30 is 7.30ET and 4.30 am PT. Can’t see many viewers here to watch Burnley v Stoke !!! Except for the ardent supporters of the teams playing

I do enjoy the Friday night home games - finish work, out for some tea at the pub and then straight onto the game. Away games are a different story though as anything a decent distance away means it’s a no go.

It says 10 live per week with 7 of those (3 championship, 2 League 1, 2 League 2) at 12.30 Saturday. So room for 3 more games (likely Championship you would think usually) at other times or also at Saturday lunchtime. So probably Friday and Monday night and Sunday lunch will have games too.

Yeah i noticed that reading it again. I'd say Friday nights and Mondays when theres no live game from the Prem definitely.

It says: "Each full weekend of EFL fixtures will see 10 live matches shown - including three Championship, two League One and two League Two matches all broadcast live at 12:30pm on Saturdays."

I think that means the three Championship, two League One and two League Two games at 12:30 on a Saturday which allows for three other games to be shown at other days/times.

This 3pm ban from showing games on tv will surely end soon.

You can get every single game on a perfect stream at 3pm on a Saturday and every other time and there must be millions doing it.

This includes right down to league 2 and Scottish games.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't stop die hard fans going to see their own team live if they could watch on tv and if Man City were playing Arsenal for example I doubt it stop an Oxford or Plymouth fan going to watch their own team.

I wonder how many people complaining have a sky sports subscription? This has been coming since Sky got involved - there is no appetite to please the fans who go on games they are becoming extras to add atmosphere to the real product - armchair fans and big profits.There has to be some irony in the fact that it is funded by fans.

They are showing all the midweek games live,all Christmas and bank holiday games live,all final day games will be live.
And each weekend 5 championship fixtures will be shown live every week.With the Saturday afternoon 2-45 to 5-30 block still in place I’m guessing it will be a rarity to have a 3pm kick off in the Turf next season.

As someone getting older and living out of the area it’s good for me but I always liked going on a Saturday afternoon so can see why many will not be happy. Perhaps more importantly how will it affect the next generation, will they get the excitement of going to a live game and become regular supporters?

The article begins with "Where can I go to watch MY team"? Well wouldn't "the ground where they are playing" be the obvious answer!? Apparently not as that doesn't really come into it, it seems.

Superb news for fans that actually travel to games.

On the bright side, i could fly home Saturday evening, or stop off in a 3rd city on my way home

That blackout must remain to protect all clubs all the way down the pyramid. Will be a sad day if that’s ever removed.

We were on the box 33 times in the championship last time out, it's only ever going one way with the amount of games being televised unfortunately. Especially as clubs get greedier.

That will depend on the Leeds result.

But the minimum amount of games this year in the championship is said to be 24.
The more successful teams/higher viewers will be a lot more.

Just seen an article in the i newspaper saying ITV are in talks with Sky over showing a few live games next season.

The latest info on this new Sky Sports + streaming set up for this season:

For those interested, I'm with Virgin and have a TIVO box (from 2016). This is inadequate for streaming which requires an internet connection to the box. Virgin can give (i.e. at no cost) me a new '360' box which can do streaming. I ordered this on the 2nd August and was told it will arrive on the 6th.

I'm not sure what tricks Virgin are playing with me but my current set up - M125 Broadband, Mixit TV and standard land telephone line is £43 per month. Adding Sky Sports HD it became £80. However if in addition they upgraded my Broadband to M250 and TV to Mega (neither of which I need or want) it would cost £69! The only proviso is that this becomes a new 18 month contract but the price remains £69 per month for it's full length, apart from the seemingly obligatory inflation increase in March. Even if I don't cancel Sky Sports for three months in the summer it still works out cheaper then adding Sky Sports to my existing set up. Of course I know there will be a battle at the end of the contract as this new service will then cost £144 per month. But that's 18 month's time!

I should add that I have every sympathy with those who want to go to live games principally because of televised football. I stopped going more or less after the Orient game - 1987 - because I simply lost interest in football. In my day it was relatively easy - buy a rail ticket on the day, pay at the gate on the day, kick-off times (3pm, 7.30pm), and days (Saturday, Tuesday or Wednesday - except odd places in the lower leagues like Torquay). My interest was reawakened by access to the internet but it was not as passionate as before. I've no wish to go to matches and if I wish I watch on TV. I don't like the Murdoch empire or how the Sky money has changed the game at the top but I'm also selfish at times!

Will there be streams of games where we aren’t on the sky stream? Last time we were able to get them on ifollow so watched practically every game.

I emailed the club about this and they replied:

I have been informed by our media and communications teams that there will be announcements coming out very soon surrounding how to watch our EFL Championship matches for this upcoming season.

You can expect these announcements via our social platforms and through your email.

Looking at other clubs who use their own steaming platforms rather than iFollow, they appear to be charging in the region of £180 for the season.
