KOMPANY TO STAY OR GO???

by It Is What It Is
I personally think Kompany and Bellamy have a lot of credit in the bank and I hope they continue.......but if the Board feels different, I wouldn't be opposed to Steve Cooper as manager.
I think our team selections and subs of late have been questionable....but Im not a manager..Kompany knows best there I suspect.
However, it's a lot for Alan Pace etc to think about.
Our best players last season have never really got any game time..Benson etc..

I really think you should arrange a meeting with Alan Pace and the other directors. With the insight you have shown in your post, your input could turn out to be invaluable to the future of the club.

Will he want to stay? Last season was soon forgotten and other clubs could be interested.
I’d give him 4 months and review.

That’s certainly an interesting concept
Your are right the pressure is on VK now, get us promoted and he keeps a decent portion of his credit (in the wider football world) but fail and his credit is at all time low.
I doubt a premier league club would be interested this summer but if they were it could be an interesting decision for him

Oh goody another "Should he stay or should he go" thread ...
Should I stay or should I go now? (Yo me enfrio o lo soplo)

If I go there will be trouble (Si me voy, va a haber peligro)
And if I stay it will be double (Si me quedo, es doble)
So you gotta let me know (Pero que tienes que decir)
Should I cool it or should I blow? (¿Me frío o lo soplo?)

Got to stay in the championship as we will walk it.
Not sure I would want him back in the prem when we come back up though.
He needs next season to learn a lot.

Sadly he's know where near the level of a Premier league manager. So many mistakes but he doesn't want to learn from them.

So maybe sack him and get someone with even less PL management experience? I've seen Rosenior and Robbins touted on here for starters.

Tbf he’s also said we have a 100m pound player and both Ramsey/Oshea are England material.
Take whatever he says with a pinch of salt

O’Shea is a full Ireland international so you have made that up completely

Agreed that he’s not at the standard required for the prem…..YET. It does look as though he’s not learned or learning from the mistakes thus far but he’s an intelligent man and a born winner . I suspect he will lick his wounds from this and he will learn.
Worth remembering how young our squad is as well . Accompanying a board with little experience as well. There was always going to be bumps in the road

I have spoken on here about him getting an experienced number two to help him, like every younger manager needs.
But not many seem bothered.
Whoever leads us, we can't have another disaster season like this one.

Irony at its very best. What about those three foreign managers you highlighted on here a couple of days ago. To the likes of me who are not au fait with the current European scene like yourself I'm still intrigued to know who they are, what they've achieved and what attributes they possess to make them such a 'good fit' for Burnley Football Club.
Are you sure he said Oshea is England material or do you think you need to review that statement?

Well since we’ve improved as the season has gone on I think it’s pretty evident he’s learning, of course your mistakes probably aren’t mistakes.

Have we improved? Or have the fixtures got easier?
Or did we bring in a goalkeeper who made saves to make it look a bit better?

Stay but boy there needs to be some sort of an improvement it's been a cluster**** of a season. I think he needs a older wise head guiding him & I wouldn't let him loose with 1 single bean after the money he's already wasted he needs to relinquish control regarding future recruitment & it needs to be left to somebody who knows what they are doing.

He will be off if a more attractive offer comes along despite being a very, very protected species at the Club. I would expect him to be the opportunist and take advantage whilst his name is still marketable. The club would also dodge a cost bullet by him taking his very bloated backroom staff with him thus avoiding payoffs.
Great players do not always make good managers/coaches. Football history is littered with many such failures. ALK take note.

The majority of that isn’t going to happen. I would imagine one of the factors of him agreeing to become the Manager was that he’d be in total control of recruitment. His first season couldn’t be faulted so for me he should be given further opportunity to have another go.

You are probably right he's got full control it'll only end in tears letting him run amok with money but it's something in all likelihood prior agreed.

Interesting article on the BBC with a few lines from VK:
- Esteve was suffering will illness during the Newcastle game.
- Koleosho still out of contention.
- Unhappy with the way Millwall went public over Obafemi's 'disciplinary issues'.

Stay.
Hes shown he can win the championship with a team thrown together over a summer. Surely we can expect success in that league with players who have played together and at a higher level. I also see no logic in replacing someone that won the league at a canter last season.
The interesting bit for me is whether we would look any different if starting with a more settled squad in the Prem next time (assuming there is a next time in the Prem with VK).

Database needs recalibrating before closed season recruitment, plus a good clear out , hopefully new additions won’t be far off PL standard rather than having another rebuild if we were to get back in the PL.

Why he decided to tease the fans with the idea that Koleosho might return for the last few games I have no idea. Even if there was a chance, it was a bit daft to build up expectation around it.
Also his annoyance at the Obafemi stuff shows the differences in approaches to club information. Harris is obviously a bit old school and thinks fans deserve to know what's happening at the club, Kompany likes to keep everything in house so it's no surprise to see him a bit put out by that

I am 50/50 on stay or go.
Some of the things he has done this season have been utterly unfathomable and the results and performances all fall at his door.
My worry is that he hasn't really shown many signs of correcting or acknowledging his mistakes and so if we did manage to come back up I wouldn't have any faith that he could somehow makes us competitive that time around.
Also, he was let loose with a big transfer budget last summer which has been pretty much a disaster on the whole. I wouldn't be confident of doing anything similar again should we win promotion.
The problem is the ship has sailed. If we were going to go in for another manager it should have been whilst we still had a serious chance at Premier League survival in the hopes we could attract the top end of the talent market. If we go down and he struggles we are going to have a lot fewer options for a new manager.

I think whats disappointed me is that other than Sheff Utd we have not outwitted any team this year, and even with Sheff Utd they had a guy sent off early in the first game, and could easily have been 3-0 up after 30 mins in the second game. From what I read, and saw in the SKY Mission programme I thought we had a super smart coach-great on researching the opposition, able to change the way we played three or four times in a game, and able to outwit other teams and set up differently from game to game, depending on the opposition. Seen very little or none of this during the season. Hes got off lightly with the media, particularly with 10 points out of 54 potential at home. He has this season shown little respect of our fans after having said so much about the importance of the club to the town when everything was going well. As you can guess I am not his biggest fan at present

Got off very lightly in the media, very true that apart from Richard Keys calling it a vanity project after losing to United in August. Where did the high press go? Did VK lose faith in it? All season there doesn’t seem to have been a game plan and certainly no plan b.
