Thanks CT-a sad end indeed. Lots of questions now being asked just 12 months after all clarets were in elated mood and expecting so much. For me a season to forget with very few highlights to cherish, in a league people describe as the best in the world

One more match report to go and then I'll try to review the season but it remains so hard to believe we are where we are right now given where we were a year ago.

Thanks for that Tony. I hate my club being referred to as a project too. Or our players being regarded as investments. That's not what football should be about to me. Anyway here's to next season. UTC.

I thought it was just me who hated that "project" term.

Good to know that others cringe at it too.

Not as cringeworthy as Assignon's antics yesterday though.

Thanks CT.We all understand the limitations of a club like ours especially in the Premier League but last year I had my expectations raised for this season and that's what makes this relegation feel gutting and quite frankly unnecessary. The writing has been on the wall ever since the summer transfer window for all bar the club to see.

Our own Lord Lucan I like that.

I can't remember 2 back to back seasons that have been the polar opposite. Last season was an absolute revelation, playing fast flowing exciting football with a crop of young promising signings and loan players, scoring at will and amassing over 100 points. Not forgetting of course winning the league 12 miles down the road. And then this season, one of naive defending, lack of goal threat, baffling team selections and substitutions after a summer of what seemed an endless influx of wingers, whilst failing to address the areas most fans and pundits saw as our weakest areas. Changes were made and we saw some improvement but unfortunately it was too little and too late. The only thing that stopped us being relegated with more than one game to play was points deductions for Forest - Everton were never under threat despite their points deductions. They have a Manager who is capable of adapting his side to play to their strengths, win matches and ultimately secure a Premier League position for next season.

Someone at walking football asked me last night if I would still be supporting Burnley next season after relegation. It will be 50 years next season since my first Burnley game (0-0 v Stoke City April 1975), I have seen us play at around 80 grounds, from the very bottom of the Football League and the edge of oblivion to years in the Premier League and European football for the first and so far only time in my life under Sean Dyche. Does that answer your question?

My time as a supporter is the same as yours CT and things have clearly been at lot worse than they are now. The current problems and concerns have been well aired on this board and it remains to be seen if AP and VK will revise their approach next season. While I expect the team to perform better at Championship level I am not hopeful that the ethos will change and as such the phrase “it’s all over now” could be applied to the Burnley FC that was.

The club seems to have alienated many (most?) of their supporters this year both on and off the field. Non-communication and dishonesty is a major problem and even CT and many long-standing, loyal supporters are feeling it. This is possibly a bigger problem than VK’s obvious failings. Warning lights are now flashing as to the club’s future, we wait and see but live in hope.

Really? Then why have 15000 renewed their season tickets?

Because we have parachute payments and are expected to be fighting at the top of the league.
That figure would drop each season down to between 10-12000 the longer we stay down.

“I certainly didn’t need to receive an alert on my phone to read that the club were telling me: “We are in the Championship next season,” and I definitely didn’t need one from the chairman reporting: “This is a project and we will keep building.”

At least the Chairman acknowledged relegation; the club didn't mention it last time. They didn't even let the players do a lap of appreciation.

I've found that online, yes. Yet speaking to people around the ground and season-ticket holders, I find the majority are still optimistic.

I went in expectation of something I had never experienced before at an away ground because of the hype I had heard previously about the place (it was my first visit to the new Spurs ground). The quick pour beer was funny to watch as they used the quick pour plastic cup to then manually pour it into the paper cup for service... and the pie, whilst nice was only a choice of Beef and Onion (that had more carrot than beef) or some vegan chorizo and bean pie - that was it. nothing else despite being told by the stewards while waiting to get in that the food was amazing, if expensive.

I was also told that I couldn't take an unopened bottle of water into the stadium, not because I could throw it - but because it may contain acid... yeah I know... daft isn't it - hottest day of the year and I cant take a bottle of water in. Apparently I could take the empty bottle in, without the lid and fill it up inside with water fountains (I couldn't find any!).

As far as the football, it was as expected - we had moments of joy and to go ahead like we did was great. Just the usual capitulation and defeat we all come to expect in this seasons performances. Ah well... hopefully we'll enjoy winning a few more next season UTC

From the concourse, up the stairs and on the right. I needed to go for some during the second half, I was struggling that much in the heat. I'd no empty bottle but the bloke on the bar was handing out cups for us.

thanks CT - maybe next time we're there (if there is a next time!) I'll be able to take advantage of it - bit late for this game though Stewards inside had no idea what was there or not - I got stopped from going upstairs by a steward

I can confirm that the first steward I asked about the water didn’t have a clue where to go.

Seems like a 50/50 split for next season between optimism and uncertainty. It will all depend on the next vital couple of months. Players and staff in and out will be the key as of course will be our financial situation which I expect will play a huge part next season. One thing for certain is that if we want to return to the PL then next season is our best opportunity. If we fail to achieve promotion then it becomes progressively more difficult.
It’s going to be an interesting summer to say the least
