Ok, so down from the Premier League go Burnley ( Lancs ), Sheffield Utd ( Yorks ) & Luton ( Beds ), coming up are Leicester ( East Mids ), Ipswich ( East Anglia ) and one of Leeds ( Yorks ) or Southampton ( Hants ) ...
Going down from the Championship are Rotherham and Huddersfield ( Yorks ) and Birmingham City ( West Mids ), to be replaced by Portsmouth ( Hants ), Derby ( East Mids ) and Oxford United ( Oxfordshire ). Heading for League 2 are Carlisle ( Cumbria ), Fleetwood ( Lancs ), Port Vale ( Staffs ) and Cheltenham ( Glos ). Good to see Mansfield ( Notts ), Wrexham ( N.Wales ) & Stockport ( Cheshire ) all heading up, to be joined by Crawley ( Sussex ). Forest Green ( Glos ) and Sutton United ( Surrey ) have lost their League status, to be replaced by Chesterfield ( Derbyshire ) and Bromley ( Kent ).
Gateshead ( Tyne and Wear ) were not allowed to even contest the play-offs due to their local Labour Council refusing to confirm security of tenure for the Club's ground for the next 10 years, thus preventing them from even trying to regain League status, lost since 1959-60, when they failed to be re-elected, and Peterborough entered the League ..
Let's hope Northern based Clubs fare better next season, with the obvious exception being our friends from Ewood, who, I'm sure most of us would wish to join League 1 for the 2025-26 season !!

We may need a little interpretation of that data - possibly a map - if we're to identify trends.

All the teams promoted in Scotland were from north of Staffs.

The trends might have looked a bit better from a Northern perspective if Bolton and Crewe had bothered to turn up for their Play-Off Finals.Clarets4me wrote: ↑Sun May 19, 2024 11:38 pmOk, so down from the Premier League go Burnley ( Lancs ), Sheffield Utd ( Yorks ) & Luton ( Beds ), coming up are Leicester ( East Mids ), Ipswich ( East Anglia ) and one of Leeds ( Yorks ) or Southampton ( Hants ) ...
