First leg

VfL Bochum 0 Fortuna Düsseldorf 2

Not often the team from 2 Bundesliga win this but good start for Fortuna in the first leg.

Visited both in a long weekend just before covid. Absolutely loved it at Bochum. Reminded of a classic championship away game. Düsseldorf’s stadium is too big for them so not much of an atmosphere when we went. Hope Bochum can turn it around but looks like an uphill battle.

Been a decent game tonight with a typically German crowd.

It is noisy. Only found it on Sky by chance. Second leg is being shown on Monday.

Always had a soft spot for Dusseldorf. My first football outside the UK, saw Kevin Keegans Hamburg win there 0-3 in October ‘78, and my only England away match, the 1-3 defeat to Holland in Euros ‘88.
They’ve been superb tonight. 0-3 FT.

Great. My German friend, Sylvia is a season ticket holder. Took her to the Royal Dyche. She loved it!

Come on Fortuna.

It looked like Fortuna were going to completely cave in after the 3rd went in, I'd like to see an extra half an hour of this.

What a game, a lot better than this tippy tappy stuff in the Prem. Don't normally watch German football but this is great and so is the atmosphere.

German football knocks the socks off the game over here in many ways. The atmospheres are phenomenal.

About 100 riot police ran on the pitch after the last penalty
Strange but at least kaiboshes any chance of any trouble
Over here a few under paid stewards are expected to keep the idiots at bay???
As someone said above the Germans do it better all round

Like others, I've watched a good few Bundesliga games this season, usually on Sunday afternoons when the Premier league offering is dull ......and that's quite often.

Terrific atmosphere pretty much guaranteed and the football is more akin to pre Guardiola times when teams attacked each other full on rather than the chess game "the entitled one" seems to have forced onto the top flight.

Going to a German game is a great experience. I went to see Leverkusen a few years ago and the whole day is fantastic.

£24 return flight from Manchester to Cologne and had two nights in Cologne.

My friend Sylvia was there. Fortuna season ticket holder and known to love a pint in the Royal Dyche.

Not happy now.
