Obviously not if the fans chose him.

I think Cooper would be too much a change of direction. I'm sure that might suit some posters, but the club can't afford to rewrite the project everytime we change manager. We have a lot of young, foreign talent. They need someone who can free that potential and mould a team out of them.
I might be wrong but Cooper doesn't fit for me.

Cooper fits really well for me but it does seem as though we are wanting another big name

I think Cooper had a lot of merit for our club. I am still hoping the article saying he is not interested is not true.Looking at his other options if Leicester get the points ban being suggested they will be strong candidates to come straight down and that would not be good for his CV. The only other PL club with a vacancy is Brighton and they will have a list of stronger candidates. Hopefully Moyes can become interested. We need a manager the players want to play for-for me thats top of the criteria. That for me is the reason we finished below Luton this season, who had a pretty poor team

I hadn't seen that when I wrote this article. Disappointing though.

I do think he needs to be careful though, he doesn't have a Premier League record to suggest clubs at that level will come rushing for him.

Know we may be looking for a big name. Both Lampard and Parker live in mansions in Chelsea and Oxshott Surrey. Imagine their travelling time to and fro the club.At least VK lived in the NW and spent apparently lots of hours at the club . Dyche had a nearby accomodation he shared with Woan-cant see either of these doing the same

I wouldn't be excited by Cooper becoming the next manager.

Whoever is appointed has a big job on his hands.

Cooper isn't interested in the job, according to what I've read.

I think Alan Pace will have a similar thought process for this appointment as he had for VK.
A big name, to attract players and outside investment. For me if we achieve promotion playing attractive winning football, we'll be half way there. Obviously the next challenge will be to then avoid a first season relegation and then reset, with a target of establishing Burnley as a Premier League football club, easier said than done.
The only reason I think we should still look for a big name manager is to attract young and established talent to the club.

We need to hire the best man for the job, not just because he’s a name.

Cooper wasn't put forward by his agent for the job because he's waiting for a PL job (Which I don't think he'll get any time soon. However, Cooper's agent who is also the agent of Frank Lampard, has put him forward and will be interviewed for it.

My inkling is they'll go for Lampard. He's a sufficiently big name and I think he'd give a good interview. Note this isn't my choice, just how I think it will go.

Cooper might have convinced himself the Man Utd job could be available soon.

He was an obvious person for a club like ours to speak to but not once did I see him thinking this is right for me. He could end up being your modern day Alan Curbishley and waiting for a job that will never arrive

Cooper is rumoured to be looking at Leicester and has said he doesn’t want the Burnley job. He may think he is too good for the Championship but then he should ask himself why he is currently unemployed.
If they even interview Lampard they will go down in my estimation. He was good at one thing, playing for Chelsea. In my opinion he is probably the worst ever England regular as a player I have ever seen. He kept getting chosen because of what he was doing at Chelsea, not because of his actual England performances. As a manager (I use the term loosely) he is a serial failure.
I hope the Munich job falls through.

1 in 3 from midfield for England suggests otherwise!

Admire the sentiments but does feel like Vincent has burned his bridges then reversed up and blown them up again for good measure.

I can’t see the owners wanting him back at the Turf again, even as an opposing manager would turn their stomachs.

A word on Lampard, much is said of Berge expected to move on, but what a player in Lampard to teach him how to score more goals? Few were better at that burst from midfield. If Sander learned that, he would be top class and would get a big six move. One more season in that situation would be a win win.

(Grasping at all kinds of straws here I confess)

Record goal scorer for Chelsea - 211 goals suggests he was a top player.

I reckon I could teach Berge how to score more goals.

Just tell him he's allowed to shoot ;)

Not wishing to change topic, but Leicester are coming back down even if they don't lose any points. 12 games they lost last season, they'll need a miracle in the Prem. Ipswich will do a Sheff Utd, too high, too fast, although I'd be happy to be wrong. The only team with a chance is Saints, and it has lots of caveats, but I wouldn't be surprised if all 3 come down again.
Which is why this next appointment is sooo important. We need someone not only able to bounce back, easily possible, but someone who knows how to keep us there. Which is why I'd like Moyes, he knows how to do both.

So compensation is reported as 10.2 million and Kompany has agreed his wedge and Cooper ain’t interested. Personally I don’t see Moyes stepping down to our level ( barring a massive offer) so Pace is faced with a tough call
The thought of Lampard horrifies me but he could well appeal to Pace.
Potter was fantastic at Brighton and had a raw deal at Chelsea somebody of his ilk would be perfect
Huge decision time for our club and certainly one we cannot get wrong

He’s managed one a bit years at Championship level.

In his full season he reached the play off final. With Preston.

He was outstanding at Preston, play offs and then title in League One in his first two seasons there, followed up by play offs again as you said in 2000/01. When he left the following season they were just outside the play offs.

All Lampard lacked for England was a Manager picking the best side as opposed to the best players and then trying to find a position for them.

As a Manager he wouldn't be my choice but his experiences have been with some real car crash Clubs in Derby, Chelsea and Everton, all of which had real off field problems during his tenure.
